I just noticed this in the monthly Aspyr e-mail newsletter....

Quote

NOW TAKING YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS

We often receive requests from you guys about which games you would like
to see brought to the Mac. We love to know what you guys think. So, a few
weeks ago we created requests@aspyr.com for this sole purpose. Please use
this address to send in requests of games you'd like to see for Mac, or
for any other game-related requests.

Pretty cool. I'm going to request "Battle For Middle Earth", but I'm sure there are a lot of other cool games out there too that are escaping my memory for the time being.

Remember guns don't kill people... Pfhor do.

Let's gang up on Aspyr!  Everyone vote for Battlefield 2!  Or alternatively, vote for SW : Battlefront 2 , or SW : Empires at War.   :)

Does "Coax Wideload into doing Myth IV !" count as a request ?
They could have their old pals at Bungie to get the Myth license back with Microsoft's money.  Now that would be a good use of MS's power.

Considering how poorly BF2 runs in general I donīt think very many Mac users could really run the game decently, let alone enjoy it.

I am playing Battlefield 2 and besides the patch rollbacks and some other weird issues, it is the most fun I have had with a game this year. Especially when you get in a good squad with VOIP and all working together.

It does have very high system requirements, but this game has a very long life. And in a year they wont seem so high.

I would like to see mac versions of Pirates, F.E.A.R., Elder Scrolls 4, Farcry, Brother's in Arms, Dungeon Seige 2 (even though macsoft is probably doing this one), Bards Tale, The Longest Journey 1 & 2 and probably ,ore that I can't remember right now. There's got to be a couple in that list worth porting.

Check this list first, if it's listed there, it can't be ported to the Mac:

.....mmmm too bad 90% of the PC Games I would be interested in use Havok.

the other are on XBOX or PS2, which is fine with me.

and BF2 is of no interrest to me.

do I have to feel ashamed now?

I canīt think of anything else interesting for Mac porting than STALKER.
Stubbs is coming for sure. and UT 2007 will be coming, too I guess and the rest....
any new games with the D3 engine on teh horizon?

how about Oddworld Stranger?

well...

Not too likely.  Everyone I hear talking about the engine is just bashing it.  It can't handle outdoor environments that well, and I guess it's just not that overly impressive.

The new Quake or Unreal engines will most likely be the preferred choice over Doom3.

I would like to participate in more LAN action. So that would require Counter Strike, and CS would require Half Life 2, right?

"Prey" is a new game (or rather a resurrected one) that is using a modified version of the Doom 3 engine.  Human Head Studios is working on this one (makers of Rune).  From the trailer it looks to be very innovative and one of the more exciting next generation games on the horizon.

In terms of handling outdoor areas, I'm inclined to think its only a matter of time before the engine is modified to better cope with them.  It has happened with past iD engines and will most likely happen again.  Although, the new Unreal engine seems to be causing quite a stir.  It remains to be seen whether developers will see any advantage in choosing the Doom 3 engine over Epic's creation.

Just my 2c  :)

Isn't the new Quake engine the Doom 3 engine? I was under the impression that Quake 4, Quake Wars and Prey were all using the Doom 3 engine and that it handled outdoor environments just fine (perhaps after some modifications). Most of the people saying the engine can't do outdoor environments seem to be making an assumption based on Doom 3 being designed around dark, relatively small indoor maps rather than actual knowledge.

I sent a request for Tribes 2. Despite the Torque engine being ported, I still want Tribes 2 itself. It's one game I'm very dissapointed that was never ported to the Mac.

My Joint Operations isn't there! w00t.

It's just a giant multiplayer FPS killfest.

But I do see AoE 3 is on that list which is kinda too bad - I was looking at some of the screenshots and it looked really nice.

Halo 2 is there too so I guess we get to stick with the original Halo for now.

CS is a mod for the original Half Life.

CS:Source is a port, and update, of that mod to Half Life 2.

I'd like to see LOTR: The Two Towers, LOTR: The Third Age and LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth. While we're at it, why don't we request Dark Forces 2:JEDI NIGHT?
