This game is listed in the "Official Mac MMO list" thread (hey, drawing up this list has been a great idea!) and I've found the announcement of Radu (Eternal Lands project manager) on the iDevGames BBS.

The Mac version has been ported by a guy known as Corun.

I've tried the game this morning: it runs pretty well on my G4 MDD (dual 1.25, Radeon 9600 Pro, Tiger) at 1024X768@32bit but there is no sound at all and the text is often unreadable or out of borders.

This port is out for testing purposes and that's why you will not find the download link on the main website but I think that this version should gain more visibility from the developers ... so I thought that a dedicated thread in the Macintosh gaming world's most patronized BBS would help :)

What do you think of this free MMORPG? Have you tried the PC version?

Crashed on my G4 1.5 ghz powerbook. But it looked pretty cool, and the crash was due to changing resolutions. Might try it again once it matures.

I've been playing around a bit with it, it seems pretty cool and I dig the graphics (the ability to rotate the camera is a nice touch too).  Haven't done much so far besides gaining a few quests and getting lost, but it seems like it has potential.

I've removed the images and I've posted the URLs ... sorry (I was in a hurry when I've posted them).

Edit: I've downloaded  the screenshots and now Imageshack hosts them.

Can you provide a link to the game? The one off of the linked forum didn't work for me.

Was having fun with this game...until

Somebody booted me.  It told me to close the game with alt+x to continue.  I did so.  Now whenever I open the application, it crashes immediately with only the application bouncing.

Thanks to whomever booted me for corrupting the game ):!   Now I can't play.  Jeez.  I was just trying to read the freaking help menu !

Any help on how to open the game, now ?

Well, thanks to 0ctane I got EL fixed.  It runs fine now [but crashes constantly for my...ick...Windows..friend]

Now if I can only figure out how to finish the Tutorial NPC's hunting quest without dying.  I *almost* get all of the meats/furs, then I die and lose everything.

Anyone else play this ?  I've been on every night.

Only problem I have with it is fighting.  It takes me 5-10seconds to be able to get the attack icon on a rabbit.  I can't seem to click on them and get the sword cursor.  It's a real pain just trying to get my unit to attack.

It's also the only RPG that runs above 5fps on my iMac G4 !

It is also a real pain to learn new skills. That seems to take an eternity!

EL it's a free game and the Mac port is developed by 0ctane in his spare time (he is not a professional developer but he has done a nice work nonetheless), we have to be patient.

I haven't played EL deeply yet, maybe half an hour ... does it really become so frustrating? What about the community? I've found them rather helpful the first time I've played EL.

Some of them are quite nice, and some.. well, let's not say they're as bad as Myth II or Diablo II [or, hell..any game's players].  But, not everyone is generous.

I still don't seem to understand why you have a 50% chance to every single one of the items you're carrying/wearing when you die.  It takes about 10minutes of walking to get back to where you were.  Hopefully somebody that's nice picked it up and saved it for you.  This wasnot the case last night.  I was fighting a pack of wolves with some other people around, and died.  My friend saw somebody walk over and pick up my death bag.  I get back and ask nicely for it, and he walks around in a circle for a bit and then walks away.

The game has it's faults [controls ?!?!  jeez....] but overall it's fun and uses up a lot of time.

Oh, yeah...and quests.. there aren't very many newbie quests p;  [Pretty much none, aside from the Tutorial, then "Walk back and forth ten times" quest, and one that gives you no reward for spending 500gp]
