The Virtual Programming X2 website has been updated, it reads now: "This product will be in stock on Saturday 28 May, 2005."

And there are system requirements:
Minimum
1.25GHz G4
256 MB ram
2GB HD space
ATI Radeon 7000 or nVidia GeForce3 (although cutscenes will be slow)

Recommended
1.25GHz G4
256 MB ram
2GB HD free space
Video card: ATI Radeon 9600 or nVidia GeForce4 Ti
I wonder whether I can play it on my Dual 1GHz, 512MB, Radeon9000... Any thoughts? Anyway, I want a demo to test performance...

Well on the bright side of things, if you pre-order the game from Freeverse, you'll get free shipping ;)

Im a little confused about the game.  Is it a single player game or a massively multiplayer like Eve?

Single player. Its not a massive online game. It more like the Escape Velocity games.

I've got high hopes for this game. In EVN big ships feel like fighters.. and fighters are useless.

To all who buy X2: can you please report on performance? I have a PowerMac Dual 1GHz with a Radeon 9000 (64MB) which is in some aspects below, in other above the minimum requirements... I'd like to hear your experience, thanks!

If I'm downloading the game in the U.S., I'm still paying in GBP, so I'd get charged ~$45 for an electronic purchase. Bummer  :wall:

Freeverse will have the game for sale in the US in boxed copies with free shipping.  We are just waiting for the boxes to be assembled.

Edit:  Doh, well this thread blew up since last time I read it, I didn't even see Auron's post above mine.  Seriously though, the game looks great, and if your card supports it, Bump Mapping and full screen Antialaising just sends it through the roof!

Man, I'm pouting. I'd have DLed this puppy the day it became available if I thought it would run adequately on my iBook (800 MHz G4 w/ Radeon 9200 32 mb vram). Sure it will run on my G5, but my G5 gaming time is occupied with something else right now. I wanted a laptop game dammit! I'm sick of Nwn! I'm sick of RoN! Arrrrrgh!

I'll break down and buy it anyways. Just wanted to do some recreational bitching.

Ran it on my eMac G4 1GHz w/ 768 RAM and an ATI 7500.  Game playes well, cut scenes are jerky.  There are other minor issues, such as conversations are not always synced w/ the characters' mouths.  I like it.

Might not be of much help to you since I have a dual 2.7 and an X800.....still...the game looks great in super high settings and is more than fluent (1680x1050,"max settings",AA on) to play.
Have only had a look at one of the tutorial missons.
The cutscenes are somewhat jerky even on this setup, seems to be a porting problem, poor VP :(

Hah--let's just say that performance ranges wildly, depending on the system complexity that you're flying through.

Well, there's always the Commandos Battle Pack. I've already got my copy ordered through MacGold.

Edit: Btw, I'm running an iBook G3 900 MHz/ 640 MB RAM/ Radeon mobility w/32 MB VRAM
