Hi !

Does anyone know how to create, and run successfully Heroes of Might and Magic IV in multiplayer mode ?

I'm using a Direct Connection (ie: with a crossover ethernet cable) between 2 G4's. The cable is OK since I can transfer files to one computer to another (no router, hub or anything like).

I tried other games as Warcraft III, MoOIII, but it's my first time I try a multiplayer game ever, and I'm afraid I don't know how to do it.

I tried in both computer to be the Host and Join with the other, in TCP/IP Direct mode, and in LAN with no success, I reconfigured IP addresses instead of DHCP, which I use at work on both computers as well but no success.

I'm also thinking that the problem is due to the fact that I installed the same game (same serial number) on both computers. Although each game works perfectly on each computer there might be some sort of a protection to force the consumer to buy one game per computer !? But I'm not sure of that.

If anyone can help me with a step by step (more or less) I'd be very grateful

Thanks !!

I have spent hours trying to get Baldur's Gate to run multiplayer between two Macs. All I can think of is that perhaps the fact that only one copy was purchased is what prevents it from working. However, I'm not willing to risk $30 to find out.

So I understand your frustration, but I have never managed to make this work. I played HoMM hotseat with my brother, who was a better player than me. I gave up on this game quickly though because multiplayer apparently depends on one battle between you and your opponents best army. That battle decides the game winner, as it is not possible to recuperate.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I got tired of spending hours playing (killing mindless computer monsters) to have the game decided in the first battle with my brother. However I hear the game is awesome in single player story mode.

Hi !

Thanks for the answer. I see I'm not the only one to have that problem, I was beginning to worry. Now since that last and first post I've managed to run in multiplayer mode Age of Mythology which run very well, except in maximum number of players ie:6, it becomes slow and when there are more than than three player on the same location (mostly in battle), it can become desperately slow. Otherwise it's still playable.

Well I'll keep you and other readers posted if I make any progress.

I've played HoMMIV and have tried to connect with both Gameranger and the built-in multiplayer abilities and have never been able to get it to work. There's no documentation of how to do this so it's possible I'm just making some simple errors but as far as I can tell this part is broken.

Pretty good game otherwise.

I remember Heroes IV running on gameranger with 10.2.8. Something happened with the OS plug-ins because it never worked after the newer versions of the OS.
