And what about games that aren't on the Mac? Are those supposed to go in Off Topic or General? Should it go in the forum for the games genre anyways?

View Post

I've been putting games into their genera regardless of their platform.  My thinking is that if they come to the Mac, they will get moved there anyway, and I'm trying (as Fm said) to keep all the nose pickings together.  Off Topic is for things not involving games, a place where "everything else" goes.

hehe, that's a temporary mind fart on my part, I'm still too used to the old RPG and Strategy forum, so I picked the wrong one.

Various places I have been that have multiple forums for specific discussions, have always had people stomp on some doof who posts about something completely unrealted to the forum, when a perfectly obvious forum for the topic is right next to it. It's like, don't they read? How could they have not noticed that a forum for nose picking was sitting next to the forum for ass licking? How come they posted about butt nuggets to a bunch of nose pickers?!

Speaking of role models don't you think a moderator talking about ass-licking sets a bad example?

You shouldn't ask yourself such worthless questions. Aim higher. Try this: why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is my purpose in this universe?

(Answers: 'Cause you are. 'Cause you do. 'Cause I got a shotgun, and you ain't got one.)

Some good points have been brought up here, and I am not so opposed to the new forums as I was when I started the thread. Haha, maybe it's just nostalgia.

I guess I will just have to change my habit and look into this view new posts thing.

Thanks everyone!

Man, you have no idea how good I feel that you are going away happy!  You're welcome!  Up until the time I became a moderator here, I only looked in the General forum and never posted anywhere else.  I had totally forgotten about the "View New Posts" feature.  Since I have rediscovered it (thanks to a tip from Whaleman), I fell in love with it and I use it almost exclusively.  Now not only can I do my moderating duties better, I am a better rounded forum dweller.

I think we should remove the forums that are seeing almost no use. Action & Arcade, Racing, Simulators, Shareware, are just there taking up space. 31 topics between them, hardly worth four forums.

I think we should either put those topics back into general, or, if it's still somehow so sinister to discuss individual games there that the world will implode regardless of how well it worked all these years, an 'Other Games' forum.

Obvious? I'm not seeing any reason other than someone's pride being damaged by the fact that a change they made may not have been for the best. If I'm wrong, enlighten me, please.

I too don't see why it would be obvious; the only thing I can think of is keeping them there for consistency's sake.
