It's Halo for me, too. And probably Max Payne. I love them both.

1. Marathon x3 x many many extra maps, did I say Evil?
2. Unreal, being pounced upon by a skarj is scary and the return to Nai Pali conversion is even better than the original
3. AvP is very scary
4. ONI, flawed but the combination of hand to hand and guns...
5. UT and UT2003, the latter for the fat rattle of the gatling gun

DOM II, Sin Gold, COD and several other are good but not good enough in SP to replay over and over again

HI,

well Marathon Triology along with all Conversions resides on my Mac G4 since I got it,
Marthon has seen all the changes in my setup and all the harddisks and graphic cards I replaced.

right waiting on the second row are DeusEx, Alice, Heavy Metal Fakk 2 and Rune.

Hey DrBoar

How did you get NaPali to run on your Mac?

I´ve tried it hard and saw the Intros but the game itself would never work
can you land a hand?

best
hey, don´t worry - it´s only red pixels on your hands...

I totally agree with you, if only those utpg guys could speed things up a bit, then i would have no reason at all for keeping os9 on my hard drive ;-)

Every so often I'll get in the mood to play AvP: Gold, STV: Elite Force, or Giants: Citizen Kabuto. Good shooters that still have some value left in 'em.

Star Trek Elite Force 1.  I play every night practically.  This game is so great for multi-players.  I can't give this game up.  Plenty of things to learn and try.  You need great aim and movement skills to get by in this game.  When you start to add tricks to your movements.  Its a sight to see :)

Old Quake III based game.  However, its all I could ever ask for in an online game.

Myth TFL and II

I'm not the only one to just let it go, check out the guys at PlayMyth, they have done a ton of work!

I'd love to play Oni again, but it simply does not work under OS X  :(

The old Sim Cities are fun, because they run really well on my comp :)

I can believe it, since this thread is about shooters you can't let go... ;)

And in my case Worms 3D is probably the only game fitting that category. And the Marathons. Most other games just circulates.
You shouldn't ask yourself such worthless questions. Aim higher. Try this: why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is my purpose in this universe?

(Answers: 'Cause you are. 'Cause you do. 'Cause I got a shotgun, and you ain't got one.)

~Antiquated, and still can't get enough~
----------------------------------------------------------------
Arcade Style Shooters: player/world physics can be modifed to surreal conditions after final release.
* Quake 1: Mega-Team Fortress. ( we'll miss theclq.com)
* Quake 3: Excessive (the most entertaining mod for an arcade game)
* MOHAA: There's a reason it's called MOAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
* Elite Force: what's not funny about star trek? It's HYSTERICAL!
* UT: saturday cartoons with interaction.
* Deus Ex: Mustn't forget that one.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Realism Style Shooters: player/world physics modification are very limited or restricted.
* Rainbow Six: it's fast, it's furious, >----)> it's funny as hell! gg.
* Rogue Spear: all expansions including CovertOps and BLACK THORN (eyecandy, music, and scaring other players, hostages, and software developers from around corners.)
* Ghost Recon: More Eyecandy, More Music. (Hey, get that tank out of my front yard!)
* R6:3 Ravenshield:  CounterStrike has nothin on RSE (...cough...pubmasters...cough....)
----------------------------------------------------------------

~Now if only Beast Busters and House of The Dead were eligible candidates....

1. Dark Forces. Best.StarWarsShooter.Ever

2. Doom II. I still haven't found all the blasted secret areas!!!!

3. Rainbow Six original. The first shooter to let you use realistic cutting edge technology, and based on Tom Clancy to boot.

Merely out of curiosity, what are those shooters that you just can't seem to stop playing off and on, even after the graphics are outdated and you own the newest and greatest?  Or do you drop each game in favor of the next one that's come out?

Mine is Aliens vs. Predator: Gold.  (Not that my avatar is any sort of hint.)  For me, that game just got it absolutely right in a way no other has quite accomplished, despite it's little balance flaws.  I think the fact that you don't necessarily have to know where the best gun is in order to win, and that one-shot kills are so prevalent (leading to crazily fun multiplayer matches) is what really hooked me on it.

So what about you?

Is it just me or did UT2004 get old? Man I used to play that game all the time.
I also loved JK1 and JK 2. Heh, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are still the best ever.

One one I haven't stopped playing is Wolfenstein:ET. I enjoy Ghost Recon, Rainbow Spear, UT, Halo, Max Payne, JK2, but they just don't offer the team-based shooting.
