For its time, it was just a "what the ****?" sort of experience. That game had great atmosphere.

As for another demo that I like to play is Pocket Tanks. Not the best game out there, but it can get addicting!
If you have time to download, try the Vendetta (Spelling?) demo. I beta tested it and it is a very nice space shooter game.

After conducting a search on Macgamefiles, I can say: No there wasn't.

The Civ2 demo should have come with an addiction warning label or something. Like you said, it made me WANT that game so bad. In fact, it was the first Mac game I ever bought. Took me some time to save up the money too.
The full game hooked me even worse. I remember games that took full months to get anywhere near finished with (ahhh... how I long for the days of almost infinite free time).

Personally, I absolutely loved the opening non-saber missions. They felt like Dark Forces homage to me, and played like a modern version of DF. So I thought it was great.

If there were a demo, I probably WOULDN'T have bought the game.
MacSoft has been very shady when it comes to Halo.... they are letting all the hype push the game, and have done absolutely nothing to offer a demo, and the first several updates to Halo were purely for anti-piracy and did nothing to improve it's poor performance.

Yeah, AFTER the first 3 or so which were all purely anti-piracy updates. I even recall one of the first patches making it so you had to have the CD in to play, which wasn't originally needed.... now there's some top-notch user support... "for your first updates folks, we are making you have to insert the CD to play a game you BOUGHT because there are a lot of kids stealing it." And, everyone knows that requiring the CD to play does nothing to stop piracy.
Aspyr blows MacSoft out of the water... they aren't even in same category, in my opinion.
