Ah, Wingnuts. Yes, a very catchy and addicting little game. Actually didn't start to get to play this one until I signed up for .Mac when they had it for free download. And boy can it get challenging in the later stages. Sure, it can get so cluttered that at times I don't exactly know which way I'm headed or I might explode right after taking off from the carrier. Yes, it's hectic, but tons of fun. And I also will be looking forward to its sequel. First, it still should run well on my Mac. Second, it seems to have much improved over the first from what I've seen. One of the few games I've been looking forward to in the coming months.

Indeed!  An enhanced, modern-day version of Time Pilot.  What's not to love!  And yes, I also got the game free with my .Mac subscription--one of the better freebies I must say!

One tip...practice the strafe mode.  It can get a bit confusing at first, but the strafing (just like in 3D FPS) is the key to succeeding at this game!  Bosses and larger ships can be pelted with bullets with minimal directional adjustment from you.  Otherwise, you'll waste precious time circling and getting into position whenever a boss tries to avoid your attacks.

Amazon has Wingnuts listed for a Feb 2005 release, and I for one can't wait! :D

Seems like Freeverse has been moving away from the shareware market, though.  Most of the games they've been releasing recently have been quasi-commercial; I miss the ability to download a game from them, buy the serial code, and play it next to instantly.  Waiting for a boxed version sucks.  *sigh*

Oh well.  More power to them.  They brought me AirBurst Extreme, so all is well.  :-)

I just wish they would update their card games to improve some of the idiotic play from the puppets. Other than that the games are great.

The Burning Monkey series is my favorite, bought all of them.  Wingnuts and Active Lancer also reside on my HD.
