I'll see about getting a new patch posted ASAP. In the meantime, I believe you can work around the issue by creating a blank, empty text file named "newconfig.cfg" and placing it in "~/Library/Application Support/MOHAA" (not deeper inside main). Ditto for "~/Library/Application Support/MOHAA Spearhead" and "~/Library/Application Support/MOHAA Breakthrough".

This work around fixed my problem.  I was able to change and save all the different option types.  THANKS!  Looking forward to that patch.

Great. Applied the patches for Medal of Honor and Spearhead. Now I can't even launch the games anymore. I'm still running OS X.2.8  The icon of the game appears in the dock for a second then disappears. As far as I can tell, the game requires X.3 after applying the patches. Anyone else have this problem ?

They have been tested to work fine on 10.2.8. Is there a message in the console after you launch the game? Also, how are you launching the game? Try launching it directly from the Finder if you aren't doing that.

Also for personal tests I enabled the radeon and 8500 radeon driver extensions(don't have either-rage 128)

Forcing the other drivers will send the game down a path which will almost certainly cause trouble, so I wouldn't recommend that. How much RAM do you have in your Mac and how much is free when you launch Medal of Honor? (It's been a long time since I've had to ask that!)

Works now. I trashed the old shortcuts and made new ones. Everything works now. Funny though, I've never had to do this  before when I updated games or applications.

It actually makes sense to me - the new apps have different Mac file creator codes. You've stumbled across a side-effect of an unspeakably evil hack to get Stuffit InstallerMaker to find and update the 2 original games properly. ;)

New (b) versions of the MOH/Spearhead/Breakthrough updates (2.40b, etc) should be posted on MacGameFiles soon, they fix the video settings bug.

Thanks,

Will we need to delete the blank, empty text file named "newconfig.cfg" we placed in "~/Library/Application Support/MOHAA" as a work around or does it matter?

It should be safe to keep around, but I'd ditch it just as a matter of principle.

I have 256 megs. of real ram with another 512 meg. in VM.I have 400000k(think I tried 500000k too) allocated to moh with system memory taking about 61 megs alone at startup(b/c of disk cache setting at max).  I typically boost my memory anyway out of habit, especially since it has helped fix crashes in other games.

I might try again at a higher setting or maybe even a lower.  Just another puzzle to figure out. :-?

You really, really, really need to think about getting more RAM.  Having to realy on VM for memory is not a good thing.  You have 768 MB total "RAM" included VM?  Or does the VM setting say 512 MB?  If the latter, then you're giving waaaaaaaay too much memory to the game.  OpenGL likes at least 50 MB of free RAM after the OS and application partitions.  100 is typically a safe number.

You need to drop that setting dramatically. You're starving OpenGL of texture memory! (There's another thing I haven't had to say in a long time.) MOHAA doesn't benefit from having hundreds of megs of extra memory thrown at it. If you find the default setting to be too low, increment it in steps of 16 megs at a time, not 100 megs.

It was 768 meg. total.  And yes I realize I could use more RAM, that requires time to go buy (when you work full time and go to school, well .  . .).

For test purposes I lowered memory to 384meg (256 meg real with another 128 meg in VM) and turned the disk cache back to default so the system only took about 35 megs at startup.  I also set MOH back at 256000k and incremented by 16000k, still no go.  Thanks for trying anyway.

As to why I set it so high: I was tired of apps running out of memory and it worked.

I just found out that screenshots produced in MoH:AA (F12) end up completely black. Is this happening to anyone else?

F12 only ejects my CD.  I got a decent screen shot in MoH:AA using command shift 3.

F12 has always worked on the MoH games - its the default settings. In fact it works just fine in Spearhead, just not Allied Assault.
