OK I got this patch and applied it.  I started playing MoH:AA again and I found an extremely annoying bug. The game looses my video and advanced options settings between gaming sessions. I fire the game up after setting them and it has all the video set back to default. I change them back and apply them, play the game and quit, come back later and my changes are gone again. The control settings aren't affected, they seem to be saved just fine along with my game saves. Anybody else having this problem?

Is there a specific folder MoH is required to be in?  I have it in a subfolder on the root of the hard drive with all my other games.  Is there something I need to throw away and let the game rebuild?  Or is this a bug in the game patch?

I'm running OS10.3.6 but I can't say it started then.  I patched the game when the patch came out and didn't play the game until after 10.3.6 came out.  I patched my OS and was testing the OpenGL drivers with MoH.  That's when I noticed the problem.

The new version stores stuff in the App Support folder now.  Breakthrough did this and now the original and Spearhead do.  Visit Brad Oliver's Nov 4th blog for details.

The MOHAA update makes it so you have to put the CD in the drive now before playing.... GOD I HATE WHEN THEY DO THAT!!!!

I haven't heard of this one. One thing that I would recommend is going into your main/mainta/maintt folders (depending on which expansions you have) and deleting the files newconfig.cfg and config/unnamedsoldier.cfg.

These are the old cfg files, and new ones are now created in your home directory. It's possible that somehow it's saving your new settings to the new files yet still loading the old ones, although I'm unable to reproduce that problem here.

Hasn't MoHAA always required the CD?

Uh, not for me....

I think it was the last update, or maybe one before that removed the need for the CD, but I haven't pulled out my MOHAA CD in ages.

Maybe, would playing thru GameRanger have something to do with it?

I'm not crazy, I know I didn't need the CD for the last few patches or so.  Weird....

I have the same issue as "the battle cat". I set the resolution to 1680x1050 and turn all the advanced setting to maximum but both AA and Spearhead change back to 800x600 resolution and also turn the advanced video settings back down when next lauched.

It seems like they are defaulting to the automatic configuration.

I have deleted the "newconfig.cfg" and "configs/unnamedsoldier.cfg" files both in the main medal of honor folder (these have not been replaced) and also from the "main" and "mainta"

I did this in both the medal of honor folder and in ~/library/application support/ where the new versions now store them.

Any ideas?

I just tried the new version of breakthough and that is OK. I tried removing my "unnamedsoldier.cfg" from ~/library/application support/MOH Breakthrough/maintt".

The new default doesn't offer 1680x1050 so I replaced it again with my older version. I had set a custom size using the console so this maintains the correct resolution.

For background, I removed both the Spearhead and Breakthrough expansion packs from my hard drive a while back.  They were not on the disk when I applied the patch to Allied Assault. Checking my Allied Assault folder, I could not find a mainta folder in main nor a maintt folder in mainta.

I went to my Library:Applications Support/MOHAA folder and deleted the files you named from that location and let them be rebuilt.  Searching my hard disk, I have no other files by those names.

I am still experiencing the same problem.  I noticed that the modified date did not change in the new cfg files after I reset my video options.  I don't think the changes I make are being written to the cfg files in my application support folder.

I have not modded the game in any way.  I have not even downloaded any other maps for it.  Should I try to reinstall the game and reapply the patch or would you rather see some logs or something before I do that?

Sorry, I should have been a little more clear. If you have the expansions installed, you'll see a mainta and/or maintt folder alongside the main folder, not inside it. I'll have to watch my use of slashes in the future. :) In each of those folders, the pre-patch versions of the games would store their settings (with the exception of Breakthrough, which was already multi-user savvy), whereas the new versions store them in your home directory, as you discovered.

Since it appears that you don't have the cfg files in the old location and the new ones are not being updated, e-mail me at bradman@pobox.com with the specs of your Mac and I'll see what I can uncover.

I have the same problem as the Battle Cat. I reinstalled and updated the game when the latest patch came out (both MOHAA and Spearhead).

The game resets my video and advance option settings every time I launch it. It’s quite annoying.

I also have the lost settings bug.  Dual 500, Radeon OEM, 768MB RAM, 10.3.6.  I did a fresh install and immediately ran the updater.

I'm seeing it too.  My settings aren't saving.  I dumped all related .cfg files from both MoHAA and Spearhead.  The settings aren't being loaded properly as well.  I play the game at 1600x1200 (r_mode 9).  I set change the resolution to that setting then quite.  The new settings are loaded instead of the unnamedsolider.cfg.  Even the newconfig.cfg file that gets autogenerated everytime is being ignored.  The game loads up at 800x600 (r_mode 4) every startup.

I checked all the different settings options.  I can get only the changes to the Control options to save.  Changes to Video, Advanced and Sound options are not being saved.  Games save just fine, no trouble saving progress in a game and it knows where all my old saves were.  It seems odd that the keyboard control options are saved but no other option is.

Aha, you've inadvertently pointed out the problem. :) newconfig.cfg should only be created/changed if it didn't exist before.

It seems that in some situations, the game always recreates this file, which causes it to later on re-load it after it's loaded the settings saved in unnamedsoldier.cfg, effectively ignoring your preferences for some of the video items.

I'll see about getting a new patch posted ASAP. In the meantime, I believe you can work around the issue by creating a blank, empty text file named "newconfig.cfg" and placing it in "~/Library/Application Support/MOHAA" (not deeper inside main). Ditto for "~/Library/Application Support/MOHAA Spearhead" and "~/Library/Application Support/MOHAA Breakthrough".

Unfortunately I don't meet the official requirements on the box(MOHAA, g3 350) and I'm in os 9.2.2.    So take it for what it's worth.

I also did a completely fresh install of MOH, removing moh and SH/BT demos as well as preferences.

But I'll go ahead and post my problem.  I basically start the app, it goes to its orange start screen, captures the mouse cursor and then waits about 20 secs.  It then quits with a type 1 error (brings up macsbug on my computer though).  I never get to any movies or the menu screen (I've already beaten the game so it did work).  Usually a combination of ES and GG gets me back to the finder but straight ES doesn't.

Also for personal tests I enabled the radeon and 8500 radeon driver extensions(don't have either-rage 128) and it started up to a white screen with a cursor, where command-power brought up a gray screen instead of all of macsbug.  I might try putting seta logfile 2 in newconfig.cfg and see if it I can get a picture as to what it gets hung up on.

Here's some stdlog reports  though they very in different degrees as to completeness.
