Supposedly 10.3.6 fixes the shader issue.
That's good, I was worried there. (I actually had a dream last night that Blizzard had cancelled Mac support. Yeah, I'm a geek)

On a more game-like level, which mounts can Trolls Shamans ride? I'd rather a wolf mount than a raptor, but I don't know whether that's possible.

Oh wonderful... so I suppose 10.3.6 still won't allow WoW to turn the shaders back on :(

We will turn them on as soon as the first OS/driver release pops out where all the pending WoW bugs are fixed.  We have some that are ATI specific and some that are NVIDIA specific, and some that are specific to a certain GPU in particular.  We might find that the next release fixes all of them - or it may not.  Since we don't know yet, I would prefer to find the source of possibly-invalid assertions like the original post and see what's up.

There's been no dropping of support or anything like that.  Some of these bugs have been really hard to pin down, and the ATI/Apple/NVIDIA people are putting a lot of work into it.  So, we are doing the best we can.  The good news is that the game is totally playable and (I dare say) quite good looking even with the frills turned off.

I agree, it still looks really good but I want those vertex shaders for even better performance ;)

Latest Patch Notes"]The Mac OS X client has all shader-based features disabled for this patch. The GUI for those preferences will be grayed out. A number of GPU driver issues are being addressed by Apple, ATI and NVIDIA - when these fixes have been completed and made available to the public we will re-enable these features in the game.

Think Secret"]With this particular build, Apple is calling on developers to test OpenGL intensive games

Yes, I know it is kind of vague but everything out of Blizzard lately has been double speak so yeah (hence my "supposedly"). If I was mistaken and these are not related, can you fill us in on what is really going on?

Just out of curiosity, can you give some examples of shaders? I can only think of the sheen on the desert surface.

Were shaders enabled in the Stress Test client?

Nope, latest version of Panther only.
You shouldn't ask yourself such worthless questions. Aim higher. Try this: why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is my purpose in this universe?

Really? Hmm... These days I feel really pushed to buy a PC. You get so much bang for your buck, I think a winner would be if you could install the Mac OS on a PC.

I'm so tempted to rip you for saying that.  However, I'm having far too much fun ripping others at the moment.

I kind of doubt it; it's a rather hard game to have a demo of, at 3GB.

Yeah, I can believe VU wants it out by then (money money money), I am not so sure Blizzard thinks it is possible.

I am not 100% sure, but Blizzard is their own entity within VU I think, so VU doesn't really make decisions on Blizzard game releases...

Considering that there's even a Mac release... Vivendi usually doesn't like that too much.
