On morrowind.com / elderscrolls.com Bethesda offers a free version of the first Elder Scrolls game for download.
Since Arena doesn't run in windows but in Dos, there's also a emulator for windows you can download named 'Dos Box'.
Since there's also a Mac version of Dos Box at emulation.net, it should be possible to play Arena on a Mac.
But when I tried to open Dos Box (keep in mind that it requires 10.3) the programm opened the terminal.
Now I would really like to play Arena but I haven't got a clue to how to use the terminal to start it. java script:emoticon(':-?')
I wonder wether anyone else has tried it and did succeed.

Without actually being able to try it myself. Remember that DOS is a command line interface so it sounds like you are in possibly that mode rather than the UNIX shell. what does the command line say when you open it?

When I open Dos Box it says the following :

Computer-van-Sascha-Franse:~ Sascha$ /Users/Sascha/Desktop/DOSBox_OSX/dosbox; exit
dyld: /Users/Sascha/Desktop/DOSBox_OSX/dosbox can't open library: /sw/lib/libSDL-1.2.0.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
Trace/BPT trap
logout

p.s. (I'm using the dutch version of mac os x :'Proces voltooid' = process completed/finished

Did you check to see if Dosbox supports the Dutch version of OS X?

DavidM: It has nothing to do with that....
It's simply looking for the Fink install of SDL, just download a staticly compiled binary of the emu that doesn't need it.
Either here:

I got an error saying "This program must be run under Win32", anyone know how to make it work?

You have to unstuff the downloaded Arena106.exe file. Stuffit Expander v8.x should be able to unstuff the file with no problems.

Thanks, that worked. It runs horribly on my G5 though....

TES:Arena runs semi-poorly on my G3/800 iBook, but it's playable (minus the sound, which I have some trouble configuring for my machine).
Have you changed any of the processor/framerate settings on DOSBox at all? If I can run it on an aging iBook, a G5 shouldn't have too much of a problem with it.
And having beaten Arena way back when, it's nice to play the original Elder Scrolls game again, especially while poking around Morrowind on my Xbox. I'm certain they can do justice to the Fallout series, once the game is sufficiently patched
