So I try playing this game in classic mode which is fine and dandy, but what the hell happened to the intro and the cutscenes? For whatever reason the sound is playing, yet the screen is pitch black. I figure it is affected by classic mode not being the perfect replacement for Mac OS 9. Still, could anybody help me out?

I have the exact same problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I just installed version 1.1.1 to try. (Couldn't get the 1.1.2 patch to work, tells me no valid application to patch.) Running in Classic under OS X 10.3.3, latest version of Quicktime, got the same black screens.

I'll try it booted to OS 9 one of these days...

As I remember that game uses Bink which can be iffy at times. By default I believe it uses some nasty direct-to-screen drawing which as it happens doesn't appear to be compatible with the Classic Environment. Bink can be run in a QuickDraw compatible mode, but the game will have to supply a toggle to activate this. If EFMI doesn't I don't think there is much to do, except maybe playing the movies using the standalone player.

I tried playing the cutscenes with the standalone BINK player but it said that is not a recognized format.

Aspyr is not responding to this question and I suspect they never will. I did a search on this forum and saw that Scott Kevill wrote about this problem a year or so ago and nobody replied.

I just got this game a little while ago, thankfully I only paid $10 for it. I suffer the same problem. Nothing but black screen for the cut scenes and no word from Aspyr when I contacted them. I was really looking forward to playing this game too, I miss the Adventure games of yore.

Hm, strange.

I could play EFMI with no problems whatsoever under Classic. But that was with Jaguar, if I remember correctly. I might try it tonight under 10.3.6. to see if it works there.

Greetings, Andreas.
