I'm looking for some good old fashioned arcade games for OS X. Sure there's MacMame and it's good. I also have Deimos Rising and it's a decent shooter. Anything else new and fresh with that old arcade feel worthy of adding to my collection?

Thanks for the head's up on that one. I found a few that suit my tastes. Anyone tried Active Lancer? I've got the demo but would appreciate any feedback on the full version.

Well Active Lancer had a lot of people talking about how good it was when it was first released, you can read IMG's review here:

I may have to give Active Lancer a try. I also downloaded the free Argonaut - 2149, a 3D Asteroids game. Not bad at all, especially the freeware part.

I gave both Mutant Storm and Space Tripper a try and was under whelmed with both. After reading some reviews and playing the demo again I decided to order Active Lancer. And like I said, I really enjoy Argonaut - 2149, a spruced up Asteroids clone with pumped up 3D graphics.
I'd really like to find something similar to that with a Space Invaders theme.

Yeah, I tried it. I thought it was OK, nothing special but not bad.
I guess I should have mentioned I'm really looking for shooters, both vertical and horizontal types. And good clones of the really old classics.

Well, if you already have MacMame, then you just need some decent ROMs, but they are hard to find. Have you tried WingNuts? That's not too bad.

I have literally gigabytes of MacMame ROMs. Anyone reied the "Metal Slug Series" in MacMame? Awesome to say the least. But let me reiterate I'm looking for something fresh, as in new spruced up graphics for the old classics. Active Lancer and Deimos Rising are not exactly remakes of old shooters, but a worthy addition to my collection none the same. I like 'em both.
I remember a PC version of Space Invaders a few years back with 3D graphics and the same old feel. I thought it was a great game, wish I could find it for the Mac, along with the new Missile Command with that same fresh look to it.
As of now...I feel like Argonaut - 2149 is one great Asteroids clone. The best I've come across so far.

I tried it out nd liked it very much. Sort of a cross between Space Invaders, Galaga, and Asteriods. I may have to register it after I play the demo some more.
Thanks for the tip!

You ought to check out AstroRock 2000 as well, I reckon that would be right up your street. Go to http://www.ifd.com for more info.

Got it....liked it.
I'm still looking for a 3D Space Invaders game similar to the one I think Activision released a few years ago on the PC. There was also a 3D version of Missile Command.
Anyone know anything about these, if they're available for the Mac, or if something similar is?
TIA!

I've played the 19XX series, good games all for shooter fans. Can't say I ever played the others.
