Just wondering.. How easy would it be to port Colonization to OSX, if the company who made the game (Sid Meier, right? - Dont have classic installed so cant check) released the source code...?

Without seeing the code, it'd probably be hard to say.

Brad,

As a 'gaming-insider' I thought you might have a bit of insight to this. Why are a lot of companies reluctant to release their source to older games (this is coming from someone who is upset that Panzer General won't run in Classic...)? Since I doubt that Atari (or whomever owns what's left of Microprose) is cooking up a hot new Mac release based on the Colonization source code, I assume there are other issues involved. Is it a question of who owns the code?  I thought the publisher generally did, but I'm not certain about that... Or is it just the simple fact that probably nobody knows where the code is anymore and that it would take time (read money) to dig it up and stick it in an archive?

You won't get to either - it's been lost :-(

Since when? And how? And why? And who's to blame?

Would it be possible to back-engineer Colonization, and then port it...? (Im not into programming..)

And btw, your webpage is not working as of now.. :)
