I will never get to anything after High Sierra if they don't release a 64bit upgrade to Civilization IV.

I don't have the game installed now, but that's only so I don't play it. I think I have accumulated around 700 hours in that game so far.

I don't think 10.14 will kill 32-bit support. That'll happen next year.

That said, I will never get to anything after Sierra because bugs. :teehee:

Apple has been pretty darn clear about it. High Sierra will be the last macOS to run 32bit apps without compromises. What 'compromises' will mean, we will see, but I think it is safe to say that I would want CivIV updated anyway. :P

ipickert55, why would they bother as long as Windows keeps supporting 32 bit apps?

Because it would still help with newer hardware and if Microsoft is gonna do that in the future anyways might as well do em both at the same time?
Maybe it really is all cocks in the end.

My GOG name is ipickert55, feel free to add me!

It doesn't matter for newer hardware, and Microsoft, unlike Apple, has always had backward compatibility for a loooong time in its operating systems. IMHO, It will take at least fifteen years or more before MS drops 32 bit support. Windows 10, if you choose the 32 bit flavour, can still run 16 bit apps natively from 25 years ago! So no one will spend money to convert apps to 64 bits when it's not needed or not even even really useful.

"Without compromises," not "at all"...they will still run. In the State of the Union they said the release after HS they will "aggressively" warn users. They'll probably just make that popup appear every time you launch a 32 bit app, instead of once in High Sierra.

Holy cow, that Aspyr Weekend Sale on MGS!

The complete BioShock Infinite for under a tenner. On the MAS this goes for 70 bucks.
Common Aspyr, Infinite is 5 years old now, give us a decent price/sale on the Mac App Store!

'Next Up Hero' is out on Steam.

On the Mac App Store front, Aspyr has been fairly silent.
InnerSpace and Observer didn't even make it to the Mac App Store.
The last game released on there was CoD:MW3 a year ago and even that was three years after the Steam release.
Aspyr's next game 'Torn' isn't even coming to the Macintosh.

Given Torn’s requirements—VR with a 970 or later—I don’t think it’s too surprising it’s PC-only. The lack of MAS is a bit odd though.

It's diffult to release a VR only game for Mac when there still is no publicly available Mac version of the necessary VR middleware and drivers. I guess when this finally happens, they will also release a Mac version of the game.

it feels like Aspyr hard been fading out of the Mac platform and shift their focus on mobile and others

To quote them from their recent newsletter:

Quote

We love our Macs almost as much as cat memes, so we made sure Next Up Hero treated the Mac audience right.
Next Up Hero fully supports CrossPlay between Mac, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.

I hope they do have more in store for us than CrossPlay in Next Up Hero.
