Just for gaming? SteamOS seems an obvious choice. Even if Valve no longer seems super-enthusiastic about it, it's still getting updated on a regular basis.
If you want a more complete operating system, I'd suggest either Ubuntu - especially as it's the benchmark for every major Linux compatible game -, Linux Mint, or Elementary OS. The latter two both are based on Ubuntu, so there shouldn't be any compatibility problems with games, and all three are very end-user friendly distributions. Which you'd prefer in the end pretty much boils down to which interface you like the most.

I'd recommend just going Ubuntu or one of the OS's based on it that Janichsan mentioned. Ubuntu is the most popular consumer linux OS and as such has a wealth of info on forums, etc. for any troubleshooting you might need to do.
