Kalypso's announcements seemed to imply a simultanious release however.

OK I tried installing it and it doesn't even download.. The only thing that downloads is the application icon. The application folder is empty and validating the cache gives a false positive. Meaning it says the files are all valid yet there are none.
I also haven't found any forum page talking about the Mac version of Painkiller HD being out or anyone playing it. Also the Steam page only lists Windows and Linux.

Recently the developers said they were going to "try and get the Mac version out in the 1st half of the year". I thought porting Unity games to other platforms was a simple process? Anyways maybe their timetable has changed...

I messaged them about this. They were very clear during early access that if you purchased early access you would get the Mac version that was supposed to be available at launch. So like a big dumby head I did it, wanting to support a game I wanted on the Mac. Then when I messaged asking where the Mac Version was it was uhhh uuhhhh we are optimizing and we have no ETA. Fool me once Ubi, there won't be a second time. I won't do you any more financial favors. At least it looks like it won't end up like Torchlight II and will actually see a Mac version.
Enterprise (iMac18,2): i7 @ 3.6 GHz || 16 GB RAM || Radeon Pro 560 || 2TB Micron + 6TB Toshiba
Defiant (MacBookPro 9,1): Core i7 @ 2.3ghz || 8GB RAM || nVidia GT 650M 512MB || 512GB Toshiba SSD

Yeah just like porting a Unreal game to other platforms is a simple process. The truth can be a little different depending on how you use the engine, customise it etc. Also if it is a new platform you need to buy hardware, get setup on the p;platform, organise or hire QA.
From experience I can tell you tooling up for a new platform isn't simple
