Oh, brother. Another one of those performance gear heads that just has to get a few more FPS or else gaming sucks.

The Iris was so close to 2 FPS. I don't see the big deal really. I mean, you can only see one frame at a time!

Then that means he has built Mac that will age well.  It's a win either way.

Well I dont know about you, but my eyes just dont see 2 fps anymore... I maybe see 1.5 these days.

Do you know what is Valley? It is a GPU burner, even gaming machines gets 30-40 fps in 4k. My workmate build a gaming PC for Oculus and he gets the same results, but the funny things i get this on a Mac mini thanks to Thunderbolt 2.

Getting 30fps on Valley in 4k is super, my "old" Mac Pro did much less.

I know. I was joking. I'm familiar with the Unigine benchmarks and just installed both Valley and Heaven on my triple boot iMac to make some comparisons between OS X El Capitan, Windows 10 and Linux Mint 18 Sarah with the Cinnamon desktop.

That's great you can game on the Mini now, very cool. :)

Yeah that's really awesome, having these performance on a Mini is fantastic. Now waiting for Mac mini 2016 with Thunderbolt 3...

Interesting - given there is no longer a Mac Pro desktop for the hobbyist with an interest in gaming it could be that a future Mini with an eGPU (that works in MacOS) could be the solution, although the latest models have soldered CPUs and RAM if I recall 👎

This. The first time I played Marathon it was in glorious 2 FPS on a Mac IIx. You can't buy that experience nowadays. Of course, when I finally got a PowerPC levels that once took 2 1/2 hours to complete took 15 minutes, but you can't skip that 2 FPS immersion. It was like playing a Hypercard FPS.

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.

Oh, yeah. Hypercard gaming for the win! Why settle for anything less than making the game you personally want and to your own exacting specifications!

Anyone see this eGPU kickstarter project? https://www.kickstar...top/description

It says they have their own software, I wonder how it handles the nVidia web drivers that are obviously needed?

I've sworn off hardware kickstarters and I'm happy with my hackintosh but I could see this being my ideal computer endgame in five-ten year's time. Apple SSD storage has to come way down in price first, though.
