This was inevitable as it is a Unity game and Wizards had said that they want the game on as many platforms as possible. But, MTG Arena has a formal Mac announcement now. https://magic.wizard...nter-2019-08-19

Been playing since the Alpha and itís quite good. Super polished interface, full control. Mostly fair FTP mechanics though drafts could be cheaper.

Hope iOS is next...

Sadly it's yet another EGS exlusive. Though you can still download directly from the developer's site, so that's not the worse.

The Mac news is a less surprising than it sounds: there was a statement by an official very early on, even before the public beta launched, that a Mac version was definitely planned, but wouldn't be coming before the game is out of Early Access. Which seems to be the case now. Mobile versions are also on their roadmap.

As for the EGS "exclusity": Meh. There's still the standalone version, so who cares?

People who prefer their games on Steam, for whatever reason (community and friends, achievements, preferred launcher, more interesting sales overall, etc.).

I meant in this specific case. MTG Arena uses it's own matchmaking. It has its own friends list. It's F2P and the only purchaseable thing connected to it is in-game currency (which never really go on sale on Steam for comparable games). And if you really want Steam to launch it and use the Steam community features in-game, you can easily add the stand-alone version to it.

This game feels dead for all other platforms except PC. No updates on Mobile platforms have been forthcoming from what I can tell. Anyone have any new info on either a Mac or iOS port for this game?

Theyíve always said the Mac version would come in winter, after the Epic version (which was just released.) The Mac version appears in their January development roadmap here: https://magic.wizard...uary-2020-01-10

Uh, I have to try it then. I played a lot of MTG as a kid. They lost me around 6th age as things started getting somewhat crazy and less balanced.

From a quick google search.... You are absolutely right! They look crazy fraked up. How often can they use, what I am assuming are activated abilities, listed on the sides of the cards?

Once when you can play a sorcery, and only one ability per turn. But theyíre still pretty crazy.

Thanks for the article link. Now I am much happier. =)

I only recently got into Magic (just kitchen table with a buddy of mine on weekends). I dont follow most formats but I am familiar with a few of them. Next week we are going to try our first pauper matches, can't wait. It will also be great to get arena for the times we cant meet so we can get a match or two going online. I also hope as the game develops they give us a way to scan our physical cards into the game.

They give you codes for buying some preconstructed decks. I don't think they'll ever do anything more than that. You can also get codes for a free Limited event by attending prerelease tourneys. See here for more on this, and some free codes.

Shame they wont do more. I live in Japan and have to get imported packs to get my Magic fix. I dont have time to attend magic events and even if I did I doulbt I would get the most out of them here and they are far away to boot. But thanks for the link!
