I know it's early to start such a thread but Apple has now announced its transition to Apple Silicon (ARM) and the first AS Mac is here in a few month. We've been down this road before and the transition may happen faster than 2 years like it did the last time from PPC to Intel. The only game we've seen so far running in Rosetta 2 is Shadow of the Tomb Raider with rather low settings. I myself have a few games that I can't play on my current iMac 2011 and was hoping to play on a new Intel iMac but now I'm considering to jump directly to AS where the future lies. I guess we'll soon hear some news from the developers about this.

So let's make a list again of Intel games working in Rosetta 2 and post your findings here when the time is right.

They also demoed DiRT Rally under Rosetta 2. Performance appeared decent.
It was not clear on which hardware these demos were running, but I strongly suspect it was an Apple GPU, quite possibly the same as in the dev kit (A12Z).

Apple said that Metal commands are directly sent to the GPU just as they are for native games. But what about openGL games? Clearly, these ARM Macs still need to support openGL apps. Apple also demoed Maya under rosetta 2. I'm not sure whether the viewport uses Metal or openGL.
Anyway, there aren't so many 64-bit openGL games, and we know that 32-bit games won't be supported.

One possibility is making openGL sit on top of Metal, avoiding the need to develop openGL drivers for GPUs. I've head they already do that for iPhones.

When did they demo DiRT Rally? It wasn't during the keynote. You're right about OpenGL. There are a few such games I want to be able to play on a new iMac, like Metro 2033 and Last Light Redux and Borderlands 2.

Are there any news from game developers like Feral about porting their games to AS? It's been quite silent on that front.

With regards to Blizzard and WoW, this snippet from Wowhead -

"We have globalstrings, faction names, and mount update names for the latest Shadowlands alpha build. [...].

There are some interesting global strings including ARM64_BUILD, notifications for outdated MacOS systems, and Ray Tracing."

I couldn't imagine many game developers being the first to jump on the AS SOC wagon, since they have no idea what kind of CPU/GPU combos there will be going forward, and hence what their future market will be like. Apple being silent about what people need to know, as usual, you know.

I expect there won't be many ports until quite some time after the first AS SOC releases.

I'm hoping that the Beamdog iOS ports of Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights etc will run well on ARM machines.

(Cos their current macOS ports are buggy and inefficient as hell).

Apple does like to have software to demo when hardware launches, so it wouldn't surprise me if a game or game engine publisher is preparing something to announce when the time comes.

It's not going to be Epic this time, though.

This is DX12 renderer exclusive feature, by the way, so not related to the Mac version.

Got this answer from a developer at Macrumors about AAA games' performance on DTK: "In regards to your question, Tomb Raider (the first of the trilogy) works amazingly well.. at 4K with everything turned up fairly high except AA. The other 2 in the series don’t work for some reason. One won’t even allow you to open it and the other will crash before the main menu. However, I’m fairly certain they would work with a bit of tinkering as they did show off the second or third one at WWDC."

Weird that Apple ran the Tomb Raider game at such low settings and resolution for WWDC, if the other game supposedly runs so nicely..

The PS5 has ray tracing and has no DX12 support. They do use a proprietary graphics API though (one low level one for max performance, and another more general one for ease of development)
