I would if I thought my P4 could handle it... What platform are you getting it for 360? Well I'm slightly above the min specs with my P4 so I'll probably give it a shot.

Here's the specs:

Operating Systems: Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) or Windows Vista

Minimum System Requirements:

CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz Single Core processor
System RAM: 1GB
Video Card: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 128MB RAM (NVIDIA 6600 or better/ATI X1300 or better, excluding ATI X1550).
Sound Card: 100% direct X 9.0c compatible sound card
Hard disk space: 8GB free space

Recommended System Requirements:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo processor
System RAM: 2GB
Video card:
DX9: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT or better)
DX10: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or better
Sound Card: Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ series (Optimized for use with Creative Labs EAX ADVANCED HD 4.0 or EAX ADVANCED HD 5.0 compatible sound cards)

Important Note: Game requires Internet connection for activation

p-p-p-p-P-P-P-P-PRE-ORDER!!!!!

:D

not the special edition one though, that would be twice the price... and $50 is plenty for me to pay in the first place.
i dont expect to run on maxed out settings, but medium at 1280x800 with 2xFSAA would be lovely... and this will also set the expectations i have of UT3 and GoW, both in terms of fidelity and performance.

I'm definitely getting it. System Shock was one of my favorite series. I'll just be waiting for some reviews to see whether the extra stuff in Vista is worth that upgrade or not.

Yeah, I'll also be getting it for the 360 because I doubt that my x1600 will be up to the challenge.

I think I'll wait for the PC demo before making any decisions. Some things sound neat, but I don't really know what to think of the game.

I too think the PC Demo would be a good move for both hardware compatibility and content. It seems like "Genetically Enhanced" characters are the latest rave. The intro on the Bioshock web site is very reminiscent of System Shock 2 and seems very oppressing in a good dreadful game environment way. :)

I'll try the demo on the 360 marketplace, which would be in a week. Got the three red lights.   As for a buying it I doubt I'll buy it for 360 given that version is inferior to its windows counter part. Besides Id got other rpgs and shooters to play on my 360..

Well the problem with the 360 is that you are locked into one visual setting, so I guess depending on you hardware it could be considered inferior in that sense.

also mod support, control schemes, graphics will be higher res than on 360 (potentially), pricing (PC is cheaper than console).

I've known that 360 has limits on resolution, but shoot you'd think it would be pumping out high def or do I have the wrong console/idea? :)

I've always been amazed that they ask and can get $50-60 USD per console title. Considering the size of the market, it's kind of disgusting. They should be  giving those folks a break. ;)

fileplanet is apparently preloading the PC demo for subscribers...
how does that work? if the demo is finished, why not release? if its not finished, how can they preload it?

and is this preloading in the same way that Steam did? so you download and then activate it when its officially released?
perhaps the demo will need online activation as well as the full PC version..

also, theres been a couple of early Bioshock reviews. all of which give it 10 out of 10... could this be the gaming event of the last few years?

Reminds me of when the original Half-Life came out. At least this time Mac gamers can get in on it (bootcamp).

and Half Life 2 and Halo...

eeek! PC demo out tomorrow? well.. maybe... but then again, lots of things might happen tomorrow...

also, theres a PC specific options menu to turn a small number of features on and off. you can turn off the compass to make it a bit harder, and play with an x360 pad sans auto aim for a real challenge. also, some of the controls are redesigned for the PC's K&M set up.

It's available for pre-order on both Direct2Drive and Steam now.

I'm putting my order in on Steam now.

I assume your talking about the full version and not the demo? I plan on giving the demo a shot on the old crusty P4... and preparing to be disappointed in performance. (Are there demos available via Steam, I wonder.)

Reports on Bioshock performance on a MBP would be appreciated!  :nods:
