Yup, PSN should be back up for everyone in the US, Canada, and seemingly also Australia. Just waiting on a switch flip in the EU now...

Not up here, I still can't sign in. Still get the maintenance message.

Yeah it looks like most of Australia is still down too. I'm thinking the scope of people coming back and having to reset their passwords on is sending the server into lag hell. Oh well, i've still got another essay and a half to complete.

The German Playstation site also alleges that the PSN is up again. Can't really check right now since I'm at work.

It's having it's teething issues, but it is up again in most places, and working fairly well. Played some enjoyable Portal 2 last night, and had a quick go on Brink too. Both were fine.

Sony has announced which complimentary games will be available for PSN users. Unfortunately, there's nothing among the games offered for us Europeans that really interests me. LBP is of course nice, but I already have LBP 2. I'd rather like Super Stardust HD... :(

Oh, wait:

For the German market, InFamous and Dead Nation will be replace (sic!) with Super Stardust HD and Hustle Kings in the selection of PS3 games.
Probably the first time I welcome Germany's restrictive laws against violence in media.

The LBP demos never did anything for me, and I already own Wipeout and Stardust, so I guess InFamous and Dead Nation it'll be. I was kind of curious about those games, but not curious enough to actually buy them. Still they're some nice freebies.

Frankly, I haven't even missed the PS3 online function at all (thankfully Netflix was still working). Just been busy playing games on my iMac.

Figures, the only games on there I'd actually want, I already bought long ago (Super Stardust HD and WipEout HD + Fury). The inFamous demo really didn't do it for me even though I usually like open world games, so I guess I'll probably grab Dead Nation and LBP.

It's not been hacked, it's an exploit that has been discovered.
Second, nobody has exploited it in a serious way (as far as we can tell), as it was picked up rather quickly by Sony after it was reported (in a very White Hat manner) and it was shut down. It's one of those things that slipped through the net. So shame on Sony for slipping up again, but kudos to them for stopping the gap promptly once more.

The list of games you can get for free(whenever PS Store goes back online) doesn't seem like reasonable. I guess I'll DL inFamous. But this year I have been out of the online game loop.

Anyone know if you can use an American credit card on the UK PSN store?

I've got the British copy of Red Dead Redemption (long story) and I'd like to buy the DLC...

Tried it on my UK account and that's a no. Gotta have a UK billing address; the fake Newcastle-upon-Tyne address I used for registration won't cut it. Feh. Guess I'm gonna have to try to find a way to get a Brit PSN card.

That'll teach me to ever get a PAL game again.

So I tried the MotorStorm: Apocalypse demo... I loved MotorStorm, and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift to death, but this feels... wrong. The rubberbanding is so overdone it makes the previous games look good in comparison, the track has so much junk and popsnizzle happening all over it that it takes several run throughs just to figure out where to go without crashing, and the vehicles' handling feels extremely sloppy and imprecise. Don't get me wrong, I'm a veteran MotorStormer, so I'm not expecting Gran Turismo here... but it feels sloppy and imprecise even for MotorStorm.

I think I'm gonna still stick with the previous games for now, Apocalypse doesn't quite feel MotorStormy to me, unless I'm just getting a bad view of the whole from the demo. Might pick it up and give it another chance when it gets cheap on eBay, but the demo didn't really feel me with the need like the original MotorStorm's demo did.

It did, at least, give me the impetus to go back and polish off Pacific Rift's 100% though and get those last two DLC developer ghost trophies that I never got. 2 tracks down, 12 to go.

Is there any way to use my iMac as a streaming media server with my PS3?
