Too many to list, but here are my favorites:
  • Riven, and most of the Myst series in general, though I am biased
  • Journey
  • Deus Ex HR and Mankind Divided (and DX1 main theme)
  • Baldur's Gate II
  • Virginia
  • Draugen (still need to play the game, ha!)
  • Dear Esther
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
  • Some Mass Effect 1/2 tracks
  • This track from SimCity 3000

Deus Ex Human Revolution is hands down the best soundtrack for me. Civilization IV is probably a close second. Honorable mentions are pretty much anything Jesper Kyd has done and the Halo soundtracks.

I'd forgotten about that. Good call.

Not exactly a soundtrack I guess, but "Still Alive"--the end credits song in Portal--is the best song ever incorporated into a game. Fight me. (Or don't.)

Hello InsideMacGames! We're back to ask you this month's question...

What video game has the best soundtrack, and why?

It could be twangy indie songs that invoke the nostalgia of youth, or intense string quintets that inspire your soldiers to victory. As always, your answer could feature in our next newsletter.
1. Baldurs Gate 1
2. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
3. The Dig
4. Diablo I
5. Myth 2: Soulblighter

Runner up: Civilization IV & Halo 1.
"They're everywhere!" -And now, time for some Legend of Zelda.

Speaking of Still Alive, that song by the same name that was done for the original Mirror's Edge is one the best songs ever to come out of a video game.

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture (Windows-only): I listen to this soundtrack regularly and it never fails to make me emotional. Especially impressive since I haven't played the game! Dear Esther is also by Jessica Curry and is also very good.

Myth 2: Soulblighter is the other soundtrack I was going to mention, but someone beat me to it.

Raptureís music is great. I recommend the game too. The atmosphere is astonishing, even if the narrative didnít exactly blow me away.
