IMO they need to nix this Air business and go back to having just plain "iPad" and "MacBook." With MacBook Pros being the fuller-featured desktop replacement with discrete GPUs, etc. Getting on Apple.com and seeing "MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro" with all kinds of functionality overlap I start getting flashbacks to Gil Amelio days. Product line could use some simplification.

I railed on our rep about the increasing number of SKUs, it truly does feel like the Amelio days in regards to naming. Do I want the Performa 6230 or the 6360 or the 5200 or the 5215. The number of iPad SKUs is staggering, I mean the difference between the Mini 2 and the Mini 3 is the touch sensor. That's it. For 100 bucks. Don't tell me no damn fingerprint sensor costs close to that, that's a 50 bone differentiation at best. The are doing their damnedest to get the same SKU creep on the Macintosh line. While managing to eschew a computer that us old Mac grognards really would lust after.

But then us old grognards are not the bread and butter of Apple anymore. My wife is. They are hitting a multitude of price points with both iPads and Macintoshes for almost any budget. Apple has the logistical chops to support extended numbers of skus in a way they couldn't afford in the late 90s. I'm not sure Steve would be into the amount of SKU creep we have been seeing but it's certainly arguable that in the past couple of years we are finally seeing the true realization of Steve's vision of an appliance computer.

Speaking at least for myself, I'd be totally happy if they'd just put out a Mac Pro with a workstation-class Nvidia card (or at least Nvidia option), four more memory slots, and a spot for at least one real internal drive. They could probably do that with the existing Mac Pro if they just scaled it up a little bit.

Hopefully when they get around to sticking Haswell Xeons in it, a Quadro M6000 will be on tap as well. That and 2TB internal storage would probably mean the PowerMac gets its retirement after 10 years of service.

When there's a multiplayer version, I'm going to be on Frost's team. Well, except he doesn't seem to actually need a team...I mean, what's the point? "Hey look, it's Frost and His Merry Gang of Useless Hangers-On!" Or something.

It's those frakkin' developers, man. Those backstabbing turncoat spawns of Satan are dropping the last of PowerPC support. Rapidweaver dropped me a few months ago, and now Dropbox is dropping me in May and that's gonna be the nail in the coffin. All I'll have left is TenFourFox and they're talking about how the last update might be relatively soon. All those little endians are jealous of my Big Endian and how it wows the ladies and they're killing me with death by 1000 cuts.

I'm no longer going to be able to use it as a real workstation.

I'm typing this on Cypher though, so I'll stick it out till the last minute possible.

What is your reason for wanting an Nvidia card over an AMD one?

I've gotten hooked on ShadowPlay and GameStream with my Tiki, and the PS4 having the same features has cemented me on it. I don't want to give up functionality if I were to go back to a Bootcamped Mac. (I know there's GVR, but... that performance hit. And no GameStream)

The Shield being able to Remote Play a PS4 now has pretty well pulled me into the Nvidia ecosystem.

A True Believer would spend that last minute with his shot-up body against a broken wall, impaled by rebar, guns blazing, bleeding out while dishing out.  Even the last blood cell exiting his body would be set to detonate like a tactical nuclear artillery round.
