I was just playing The Movies on my brother's Dell and it's got me a little hooked on it. I managed to make some pretty-decent movies with it even though my actors and actresses are being overworked to the point that my movie studio is like an EA sweatshop.

Anyway, anyone think a Mac port might be a possibility? I really want to take some of the movies I make from this game and tear them up in iMovie and Final Cut.

I would say there is a very very good chance of this coming. Feral and Lionhead seem to have a good relationship, as both Fable and Black & White 2 are on their way to the Mac.

I'd love to see 'The Movies' on the Mac. I've been hyped about the idea ever since I read Lionhead was making such a game. The likelihood of it coming to our platform, as spk said, is rather good. Not that it would run on my current Mac, but hey! it'd just add to the other games on my future to-play list that may one day even convince me to buy a new Mac. Even though that seems rather unlikely right now. *sigh*

Ditto. I'd love to see this title, as I've mentioned before.

What - no iMac Man chiming in to say how we don't need any more non-violent, sim/tycoon style games on the Mac?

Awww…

I too am amped for this game - it looks very interesting indeed, with nice graphics and wide array of things to do.

Well ... I just found out that the movie files this game exports them as are in Windows Media format so I'm not sure how that's going to port well for the Mac version. I'm guessing that would be changed to MPEG-4 or H.264 in the Mac port.

At the mean time, other than Flip4Mac, is there anything else on the Mac that would allow me to edit these Windows Media files? I'm not sure if I'm ready to spend 50 bucks just so I could edit Windows Media when I could edit MPEG-4, MPEG-2, and DivX without the need to purchase anything (although, that guy who made ffmpegX could use that 15 bucks for his ffmpeg/mencoder frontend).

I really want to see this on the Mac.

As for media output format, I think there are some ways to get Windows media files editable on Mac... I know for sure I can edit .avi files.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a solid and expandable release..

1 hour and 48 minutes? Holy freakin' cow!

Isn't there a transcript I could read through instead? I'm not sure I could find the time to spend to know the answer among other stuff in the Mac gaming community. Although, I suppose it could be more of a surprise than anything so I'll find some time to listen to it tomorrow ... but knowing my schedule, I have my doubts.

Actually, I just listened to it... well, part of it at least. As far as Feral is concerned they said that there may or may not be a chance of them porting it, and David Stephen said they would let us know what is going to happen with that within the next two or three weeks.

Sweet. I sure hope it's good news. It gives me one less reason to build a PC next summer. :)

David specifically said he wouldn't comment on it but to "watch this space" in the coming few weeks. This may be a tad premature but "WAY TO GO, FERAL!!!!!"

Good stuff! :D ... Now I'm just wondering what kind of file format the created movies will have and how hosting them would work. I suppose, we'll find out in due time.

Well ... in the Windows version, The Movies exports them in Windows Media Video format and are hosted on Lionhead's servers. Uploading these movies allows the players to earn "Virtual Credits" (or VC) so that they can purchase items from the PropShop.

Obviously, Windows Media is not a very loved format in the Mac world so I'm guessing of a few situations like:

1) BEST CASE SCENERIO: TMO will make a transition to use QuickTime H.264 or other cross-platform formats such as Xvid or Theora.

OR

2) SOMEWHAT OKAY CASE SCENERIO: TMO will continue to use Windows Media Format and Feral probably licensed technology from Telestream to use Flip4Mac to export to WMV format.

OR

3) MARGINALIZATION SCENERIO: There will be a separate TMO just for Mac users that uses QuickTime

OR

4) WORST CASE SCENERIO: We won't be able to participate in TMO.

See, I predicted this back in November. I must be an oracle or something. :)  ;)

I think 2 is the most likely scenario there, KirinRiotCrash.

April of 2004 for me (twice). How's that for a guess. Didn't know it would take almost two years to announce, byt still looking forward to it.

This is the macCentral quote I like though "What’s more, this may pave the way for more Lionhead games to come to the Mac..." and "Feral described the publishing of Fable: The Lost Chapters as “a significant strengthening” of their relationship with Lionhead Studios, and hinted that other Lionhead games may may be appearing on the Mac."

Can someone say THE MOVIES!!!

And my prediction back in July of last year.
