I saw that yesterday.
Looks pretty astounding when you think about it. Good texture work too. Hopefully the control system will be better than what weve seen before, and the other parts of the 3D engine wont suck...

I dunno, looks a lot like Marathon.  Not that that's a bad thing, but it's not the organic stuff you're supposed to have in Prey.  Granted the iPhone's not going to be running the Doom3 engine any time soon, but it can push more than 20 polygons.

Now that's a good idea!  It would have to be freeware, but there is precedent for that.  Is there a way to add mods to an iPhone game?  Aleph One won't work without custom user files.  Anybody who has played A1 has juggled downloaded files in and out of the folder.

no...

as for A1 on iPhone. I dont believe that Apple lets you have extra user added files for the apps, so that would mean that A1 would need to be distributed in 3 distinct and bug free forms. One for each game...
Also, theyd need to get the permission from Bungie to do this, I imagine.

anyway, get that ball moving!

You've got the source. Just bundle the data up in the app and when starting a new game pick between the scenarios.

Is the source GPL? And the data is freely distributable? Should be fine.

Not true, with Beatmaker for the iPhone, I uploaded via wifi using the in-app browser 500 megs of drum samples to my iPhone. Its interesting as I have the Beatmaker app running on my Mac and I can access it via WAN or LAN long as I have the right addy. I imagine a system could be developed as such.
