Age of Wonders: Planetfall is apparently finally out for Mac!

A bit about the game from the Steam page:

Quote

Emerge from the cosmic dark age of a fallen galactic empire to build a new future for your people. Age of Wonders: Planetfall is the new strategy game from Triumph Studios, creators of the critically acclaimed Age of Wonders series, bringing all the exciting tactical turn-based combat and in-depth empire building of its predecessors to space in an all-new, sci-fi setting.

Build your empire with one of six unique factions, ranging from the militant Vanguard to the dinosaur-riding Amazons and the cyborg-zombies of the Assembly. Progress through each faction’s missions using your wits, military strength and diplomacy, exploring planetary ruins and encountering other survivors as you unravel the history of a shattered civilization. Fight, build, negotiate and technologically advance your way to utopia in a deep single player campaign, on random skirmish maps, and against friends in multiplayer.

I kind of lost hope that they would ever release a Mac version. Paradox had put up a Mac Apple symbol on their site before the release of the game, way back in August 2019 but then that was "corrected" and ever since Paradox (publisher) and Triumph Studios (developer) have been dead silent when it came to if there would be a Mac version.

With the release of the Age of Wonders: Planetfall Invasions expansion they quietly announced the release of the Mac version.

I was pleasantly surprised when I came across the Mac symbol today when looking through my wishlist so I bought it and am downloading it now.

So if you are interested it's on Steam for 50% off:

or

I'm sure it will be on the MacGameStore at some point, but right now it's 60% off on the WinGameStore (steam key):

Interesting. But looking at screenshots, it looks to me like there's no overall graphical plan? Everything seems to be a mashup of colors, shapes, and things, which doesn't come together very nice.

I think what you are seeing is the different factions, there are a whole bunch of different races, Vanguard (Humans), Dvar (Space Dwarves), Kir'Ko (Sentient Bugs), and others all with different looks and game mechanics.

Just a bit of a word of warning. I have tried the game out this morning and did find a major bug that if you want to customize your commander, it hangs, spinning beachball, requiring a force quit. So yeah there are some bugs.

Maybe they should have had a beta for Mac users before they released it so that they caught some of these bugs? :bye:

It's been reported in the bug section and I've added my voice to that thread on Steam, hopefully they'll get a fix out.

So anyone interested in the game, you may want to wait a bit until they fix that.

If you buy it, get it from GOG. It's half off there too, and no DRM.
