While waiting for the Mac version, I decided to watch a video of the PC version:

I have to say this looks amazing. The attention to detail in this game seems to be absolutely fantastic.

Mac system requirements seems a bit higher than their counterparts on Linux.
I wonder if the Mac version uses moltenVK.

What the frak is "2K" resolution?

Itís a shorthand for 1440p. Weird that they used 1440p for Linux though.

Disappointing/not surprising that recommended is only 45 fps, but most ultra settings are pointless anyway.

In this case, it does not matter because the M1ís graphics couldnít handle the game anyway.

Precisely. If it were 1440p, they would have written 1440p.

No, they definitely mean 1440p. 2K refers to the fact that itís double 720p. Itís a widely used term.

Itís either sloppy copyediting (itís macOS, guys) or theyíre doing a poor job trying to cover up the fact that performance isnít as good as Linux.

2K is, according to wikipedia, a resolution of approximately 2000 pixel wide.

Most television sold nowadays are 4k. These use a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. This is exactly four times the number of pixels of the older Full HD televisions. They used 2048 x 1080 pixels. This is usually called 1080p or sometimes referred to as 2k.

It's now available on Steam and Epic but not the DLCs. When you're talking about 1080p, 1440p or 2160p you're talking about the vertical resolution/height. When you say 2K, 4K, 5K or 8K you're talking about the horizontal resolution/width. A monitor with 2560x1440 resolution is 2K or 1440p.

3840 / 2 = 1920

1080p medium 25-45 fps on MBA 8 GB RAM. Hairworks and Tessellation seem to be missing from the Mac version? Or maybe they are autosettings when you choose High or Ultra? The thumbnail is misleading. It says "Metro Exodus Enhanced" but this is not the Enhanced version. The Enhanced verison is not even out for PC.

I hope they did as good a job for macOS as they did for Linux. It's noticeably smoother than via Proton.

Sadly it does.

https://steamdb.info/depot/412024/

It also has the same limitations as the Linux version (lack of tessellation) and perhaps a few other things.
MoltenVK really eats up CPU time.

MoltenVK... Ugh. :blarf:
I'm afraid we'll get more of these semi-native games in the future. And high CPU usage makes the impact of Rosetta even worse.
But heh, performance is still acceptable, and it's better than crossover, assuming that devs would never have coded a Metal version of the engine.

Hairworks is Nvidia tech so that's the reason for the lack of it.
