The (sound)-engine of unreal1 never got patched for osx, or am I wrong here?
So no RUNE, UT99, UNREAL, DEUSEX for OSX ?

There was a somewhat experimental, but functional version of UT99 for OS X, but it never made it to Intel.

FWIW, DX ran well under WINE last time I tried it. The original UT ran too, but I vaguely recall having to mess with the WINE configuration first.

I did some "wine-ports" as well, but it's not the same as the original one and it also depends on the OSX.
There are always problems with other OSX versions and some wine-bottle-configurations.

If we are talking unreal-engines on osx here...why the hack did they never release gears-of-war?
I heard that the porting was already in progress...but it never came out.

Microsoft. Also, apparently Gearbox Software did the Windows and macOS port back in '03. I'm grateful it wasn't Virtual Programming.

UT99 os x port back in 03 at gearbox? I thought Ryan Gordan worked on that back in 2001.

I vaguely recall doing a bit of Google-fu before posting, I don't remember things like that off the top of my head.

They were talking about Gears of War at that point.

I have a Unreal Tournament Intel app on my Mac disk. I can't remember where I did downloaded it. But I guess it exists.

I guess UT wasn't made available into the public domain, even after all these years, so one has to rely on one official disc for getting the data files?

I think I used the ones from the GOG PC version that I had in a WINE wrapper before.

I do own a PC disk version and the old Mac OS version so I might have moved them from one of those.

Speaking of strange places that Gearbox's stamp turns up on - they ported the Xbox version of Halo to PC back in the same time frame.
