MAC USERS MAY find themselves trading operating systems this summer after it was revealed that, in initial tests, Windows 10 Bootcamp runs even smoother than Mac OS X.
Computer Science major Alex King took the plunge, upgrading his 12in Retina MacBook to run on the latest preview build of Windows 10 and was bowled over by the results."Here's the real kicker...

I can't see wanting to do that myself. Why would you buy that computer to run a gaming OS on it? That's all Windows is good for imo and for me personally I don't even like it for that despite the benefits it offers at times.

Windows 10 isn't out yet, but is shaping up quite nicely, so I wouldn't exactly call it a gamer OS. I mean, it also runs Word. :P

By the way, why would anyone want to use Windows to run Word when we can access the Standard Text Editor (the Mighty ed) from the terminal window any time we need to do any serious writing?

Apple needs to get off the uglify-the-interface and over-feature-all-the-things train and get back down to brass tacks and make the OS run like a well-oiled machine again like in the heyday of Snow Leopard. Although from the sound of it, they might be doing just that with El Capitan.

That went so well for me I immediately went back to Mavericks and stayed there till Sierra. Sierra ended up being what I was hoping El Cap was, so I finally stepped into the flat icon era now that I don't have to have a sluggish OS in order to do so. My boot times still aren't almost instant like they were under Mavericks (running on 2TB 850 Pro as seen in sig, so Mavericks ran like greased lightning) but most other parts of the OS are comparable to running under Mavericks now.

Purely anecdotal but i've found it to be as flaky on my Retina iMac. I just encounter so many little bugs day to day that I find it as much of a constant frustration as I used to windows.

I think i'll save conversation about Mac OS from a UX perspective til' when you are all dead to spare you the boredom :P
