Has anyone actually tried this out ? I know the download has been made available to those who bought the Royal Edition. But there's black hole in place of any Mac commentary :)

I mentioned in another thread that the Royal Edition is going for silly amounts of money (£70 here) so I'm just assuming that everyone is waiting for the regular version.

I've seen some reports in German forums, where they described the performance as pretty good. No first hand experiences from me, though.

is it just me or does this look kind of like a console RPG ported to the PC (and the Mac)? I don't know if I like the action orientated Oblivion–like combat either.

Graphically it looks fantastic but this is definitely a wait-and-see-what-others-say for me before I consider getting this.

I've seen the first real review of the Mac version now (on a German site), and according to that, you'd better have a GPU with 512 MB VRAM – otherwise the game runs rather choppy.

They went Mac Mini w/ Geforce 9400M to iMac 2,93 GHz w/ GT 120 so we can't really tell much about the middle ground until some more people get their hands on it.

But then again they said 1300 something pixels instead of 1280x800 etc so I'm not placing too much faith in them messing around and testing multiple settings :)

This seems to be out in the U.S. now, on Steam (with Steamplay).

Yeah, no Euro love :/

I'll wait for the next Steam sale anyway $50 is too much imo.

I had the same thought--I've spent less than $50 on Steam so far and ended up with 13 games (including the Civ IV expansions).  However, while that's a good deal, I wonder if that's actually a good thing in the long run.  I've spent $50 on single games before and thought it was worth the price.

From what I heard, it's important to take the 512 MB VRAM requirement seriously, then the performance is pretty good. That's why I (have to) stay away from the game at the moment.

As far as I remember it uses Cider, but I could be wrong. *shrug*

How could it using cider without any news from Transgaming?

This is a native port, I am sure!

There was never any mention anywhere about Cider being used.  (Which doesn't mean it's not, but it would probably have been mentioned somewhere if it was.)

It's really a native port. No Cider involved.

It's good that, despite the ever-improving Cider technology, companies 'new' to the Mac are taking the time to release native ports :)

Well I'll hopefully soon be answering my own question! My replacement Mac is on it's way and I've ordered the Royal Edition of Two Worlds 2 from Amazon. Topware were selling the PC/Mac version on there for £50 which is a lot better than the £100 it's going for on eBay !!?! :D

And I just saw that there's an expansion in the works as well! From the figures they gave in the press release they've done well with this game - 2.5 million copies sold worldwide. Hopefully the success of TW2 will mean they view cross-platform as being worthwhile for the future!

It actually performs well on my 2010 11 inch Macbook Air "ultimate edition". I'm having an issue with the actions that require a "right click" though. Right clicks by themselves are fine, but when I need to right click while already holding down the left click, that's when I run into the issue, because the trackpad won't recognize the right click. Outside of using an external mouse or game controller, does anyone know a way around this? Thanks!
