Wideloadgames.org, the fan site dedicated to Wideload Games, has posted a 3 page interview with Aspyr's Glenda Adams about the upcoming Stubbs The Zombie: Rebel Without a Pulse. The interview is a technically in-depth look at the inner workings of the game.
Here's a clip from the interview: Worg: Will Stubbs be OpenGL on both platforms, or will the PC version use Direct3D? Glenda: Both PC & Mac will use OpenGL. Since we were developing simultaneously on Windows and OS X (alongside the Xbox) we wanted one common codebase. Also some of the newer shader effects Stubbs is doing that weren't in Halo are easier to access on the PC and Mac via OpenGL. As much as Stubbs is based on the Halo engine, it has a lot of layers of added graphics functionality that weren't in Halo originally. So doing a more ground up version of the graphics renderer for GL made sense. To check out the entire interview, follow the link below to the Wideloadgames.org. I think Randall Schwebke did an excellent job, a skilled surgeon doing exploratory surgery on a zombie corpse. Glenda Adams was very forthcoming, I can't thank her enough for taking a looong moment during "crunch time" to answer these very detailed and technical questions. In summary I'd like to say, "WOOT!!". -------------------- Gary Simmons

Ah, good ole crunch time. If Aspyr's crunch is anything like ours, I'm sure Glenda was more than happy to get away for awhile and answer some questions. Good read, by the way. -------------------- -iMac

if a console game says only for, its talking about its real competition, other consoles...
One thing I find annoying here... Stubbs wont have split screen coop on PC or Mac... why? theres no reason for this. I expect that its just trying to avoid the rage that silly people would have because its not over a network... But For those of us that want it wed have to xbox it... So as opposed to buying an xbox, couldnt I just buuy a computer controller??? so annoying!!! and they did it with halo too!!!! That and Gears of War is going to have coop over live... if you can do it there, then just do it here aswell... Even if it is only over a LAN (yeah yeah, I know, not even xbox can do that) -------------------- Polytetrafluoroethylene to my friends.

Co-op Stubbs is still a possibility for the Mac/PC market. It just won't be available on release but Aspyr said they may offer a patch later on that will give us that. Because of the Halo physics, I for one am looking forward to playing co-op Stubbs just to be able to jump into a sod-o-mobile and play demolition derby with Grubbs. As far as I'm concerned, Halo was created just so two or more players could bash their warthogs into one another in a free-for-all demolition derby. The air time is amazing and the sod-o-mobiles are ALREADY a bit airborne... it would be perfect for this. It doesn't sound like much talking about it but if you have tried it you will know what I'm talking about. Stubbs has jeeps too, it would be a hoot to clean out the citizenry and play a little DD in army jeeps too.

Don't make me come over there and eat your brains. Cause I will. Gosh I can't stand it when other people are having fun and I'm sitting here tapping keys. So anyway Aspyr, did you hear that? Demolition Derby in Stubbs is fun! Listen to your base! I've got 4 people in my base now and we demand to be heard! I was going to post this next thingy in the Doom movie news thread but it really belongs here. What I want to see more than Doom is the Stubbs movie. Finally, to see the Zombie's point of view on the big screen. "They no let us eat brains. Why they no let?" Oh the drama, the carnage, the hubba hubba love scenes. I'm thinking Kevin Bacon is perfect for the part. He hardly needs any makeup at all! Sign Kevin, ink a deal with Acme Cow Brains Ltd, give Hunt's time to gear up production of ketchup, and I'll sit in the front row watching brains arc 30 feet on each side of me! -------------------- Gary Simmons

I am disapointed in the fact that they had to cap the resolution.
I would wish it had worked at my monitors native resolution (1920x1200) People with CRT displays can just change the resolutio, but doing that on a LCD doesent look good et all. I mean why lot let the resolution be there ? W -------------------- ASKING FOR A MAC GAME TO BE PUBLISHED ON TIME IS COMPARABLE TO ASKING FOR A PINK, MAGICAL, FLYING PONY! - some IMG members

As for networking stubbs being a lot of work, it wouldn't be too bad if they could design an engine properly. |

The Halo engine was not built with the Internet in mind. Note it's not Xbox Live-enabled, tho tunneling apps can get you a game.
Halo 2 is obviously much better in that department. |

QUOTE(the Battle Cat) Glenda Adams the Director of Development, Aspyr Media was kind enough to grant WideloadGames.org an interview concerning the recently released Xbox title and soon to be released PC/Mac game "Stubbs the Zombie: Rebel Without a Pulse". This is the second and final part of a 2 part interview. You can find Part 1 here. As before, Worg's crack hired-hit-question-asking-ringer is back from parole, with a house arrest cuff piercing his clavicle, to serve up some more brain tenderizing questions. Yes, if you couldn't get enough the first time, Randall "Bat" Schwebke is here to finish you off. I love it when the dust flies off of Glenda when he gets a good one in. Course seeing Glenda buckle Bat's knees with a blinding fast response is a treat too. Let's join them in progress shall we?

I created a topic in the Action & Arcade forum but it went uncommented on. I pimped it on WideloadGames.org. In fact I sent the news out to a couple dozen game news websites after giving IMG the first crack at it. Some mysterious person named Randall "Bat" Schwebke did the interview. With only a couple exceptions he wrote all the questions himself, personally presented them to Glenda, massaged the Q&A into a coherent whole, returned the result to Aspyr for approval and only then did I format it for the website. I did not require Randall to run the questions by me first, I trusted him completely to do the right thing. It was Randall's first stab at a big time media interview and he absolutely nailed it. When I thanked Glenda for the interview the first time she replied, "Cool, thanks a bunch, it was a fun interview! Lots of very sharp questions." The second time she remarked "Thanks! It was fun, great questions again -------------------- Gary Simmons
