Jgwdoc, do you still need to modify the .ini for the Windows NVidia GeForce 8800GT drivers? If so, what do you need to do? I'm still kinda deciding between the Radeon HD 3870, and the 8800GT, but I'm leaning towards the 8800GT(with a student discount, it isn't much more than the HD3870, and since the HD3870 is through ATI, not Apple, there probably won't be a student discount on it).

I haven't updated to the absolute newest drivers, but the forceware drivers I got (a couple of months ago) at laptopvideotogo.com did require a modded INF for the installation. The whole process is very straight forward, and they take you through the instructions in detail on the site. You can always try to install without the add-on and get it if the installation fails.

Quicksilver is the guy to ask about this; he's the bootcamp/driver/windows expert

Hey, just caught the tail end of the discussion.

I'm 100% sure that you can't boot Windows XP off an external Firewire/USB drive without some pain and suffering (Boot Camp doesn't affect the equation), because Windows XP has a nasty predilection to reset those drivers at least once during the boot process.  I'm not sure about Vista, but I think it's the same.

As far as eSata goes, Windows won't even see the drive until midpoint through the boot process (where it loads the drivers), so the solution would involve some sort of sSata bootloader (or pre-bootloader?) support that I don't think exists.
