I'm not a programmer but isn't it harder to port x86 to AS than 32-bit to 64-bit?
Not really. Aside from very specific low-level optimisations and a couple of caveats, the CPU architecture plays no longer that much of a role. The effort is probably about the same. Biggest issue will be – as usual – middleware and third-party libraries.

Rosetta 2 will be supported for about 5 years.
I'll believe that when I see it.

Well, so was the case last time from PPC to Intel 2005. It lasted actually 5,5 years when Mac OS Lion dropped the Rosetta support in July 2011.

At the same time, Feral is porting borderlands 1 to 64-bit Metal I believe.
The 64 bit transition reveals the levels of customer support of the two companies. Still, Aspyr's decisions are understandable. Almost every company would have acted this way. It is Feral that is simply amazing.

Say what? Who? When? Where? How?

I think Borderlands was in the list of games Feral said they would port to Metal. They may have not begun porting yet, though, or they may have changed their minds.
EDIT: well it seems the game won't be ported. I forgot that Feral removed it from the Mac App Store.
