Coincidence is I'm replaying Borderlands currently, for achievements. I beat the main game's final boss today: it really is simple to kill! It takes 15 mn because it has tons of health, but you just have to hide behind a pillar, shoot the tentacles, then eye, take cover when the eye shoots its beam, rinse and repeat.
TBH I don't even remember anything about it, just that I kept trying and was running low on supplies. Not happy it'll be harder, but if it had been more _interesting_ maybe I'd have stuck with it.

I've got Borderlands 1 and 2 and I didn't find the motivation to finish one. At some point I just got bored.

True, the Borderlands games give a grindy feeling after a while, especially with the DLCs.

I'll be disappointed if Aspyr can't get B2 ported to 64-bit. Starting to lose hope frankly. But a new one would ease the sting, assuming a Mac version ever turns up.

I just don't understand why this is a challenge. Even fricking Steam hasn't been updated to 64-bit yet, and every time I start it up, I get a pop-up warning that support for it will be leaving at some unforeseen point in the future.

Huh. Articles in July 2018 last year claimed that Steam had a 64-bit client, but I'm still getting the warning too..
According to this thread: https://steamcommuni...56661026/?ctp=2
the launcher may still be 32-bit but the process is 64-bit? I'm definitely seeing 64-bit in Activity Monitor while its running, but System Profile reports that its 32-bit.

As far as Aspyr updating their games, it's unfortunately another matter. Valve still gets revenue from their client. Game companies like Aspyr don't usually get much revenue from old games. Any resources they put towards upgrading old games means fewer resources bringing in money with new titles.

As a player I want Aspyr to update BL and other games, but I recognize Apple has put them in a difficult position. Not for the first time.

Out on Steam in April 2020 (so 6-7 months after the Epic store). Not a problem, I'm in no hurry (I haven't even played the Pre-Sequel yet). And by then, DLCs will be out and bugs ironed out, so I would have waited at least this long anyways.

Yeah, the Steam client is definitely 64-bit. System Profile only checks the easily findable app stub, which normally sits in /Applications, but not the actual client, which is buried in ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/. Apparently, there's an easy fix, but Valve does not seem have applied it for some reason.

Well, I hope for Gearbox that Epic comes around to add social features like a friend list before BL3 launches there. Might be important for a co-op game. But since such things aren't even on the EGS' roadmap

I also don't think we will see a Mac version of the game on the Epic Store any time soon, at least not from Aspyr. I seriously doubt that a store front which does not even have a shopping cart has an automated platform-specific revenue attribution system like Steam has.

There is a friends list. It's even cross platform between xbox and PC/Mac.

Ah, okay. It's been awhile since I used the Epic launcher (since they axed the new UT) and I dont' think they had a friend list back then. At least not in the launcher (there was something like that in-game).

And you can import your Steam friends list into the Epic one.

And since when have they axed the new UT? I still play it.

It's still playable, but all development has stopped.

Aspyr just announced on Twitter that they will be bringing the HD update to Mac and Linux, for both Pre-Sequel and BL2.

No timeframe given, and no mention of a 64-bit build. Still, I'd say the odds of getting a 64-bit update for those games has gone up quite a bit, and the chances of eventually getting BL3 on Mac may have gone up a little.

I'm wondering if Feral is planning anything with regard to the "handsome edition" upgrade to Borderlands GOTY Edition?

I'd assume so, since BL wasn't on the list of titles Feral dropped from sale late last year due to the upcoming 32bit app-ocalypse and is still sold today, which probably means that a 64bit / Metal update is coming some time this year. Would be strange not to include the visual and gameplay enhancements while they're at it.

A little birdie told me there are no plans to update the Mac version to the Enhanced edition. It may get a 64-bit update but that's it.
