With steam being so simple to install windows games, it hurt piracy because people found it simpler to just buy the game, than pirate it and try to go through the hells of burning, wrapping, installing, running hack apps, running keygen apps, running all sorts of potentially damaging software just to play one game.

This. I would not play Windows games without steam (though gog galaxy is real decent now). I click buttons and cheap games appear on my WinBoxOne. RNGesus the old days of secu this and secure that. Maddening. If I had to go back to that world I'd live like the olden days with a pittance of mac games and consoles.

Today I was looking at expired MGS beta app icon thinking.

Let's all of us send an email to Phil Schiller. We stress out Apple's double standard (MGS vs. other similiar already approved apps) and IMG/MGS commitment to the platform. He is more like to notice if he gets like 10 emails, right? We agree on same subject and similiar message.

What do you say?

Gladly. Two things though.

1) I need list of arguments
2) My English is not the best. Someone would need to go over it and polish it.

Well last word was, Apple was going to have a conference call with the heads of state at MacGameStore to figure out why this keeps getting rejected when Steam is allowed to exist. So... I'm not sure yet on the status of that, but... least that sounds fruitful.

Apple called and said we were rejected because of “Apps utilizing a system other than the In-App Purchase API (IAP) to purchase content, functionality, or services in an App will be rejected.”

We then asked "Then how does Steam and Amazon get away with it…"

She said “It wouldn’t be approiate to discuss other apps.”

Those eyes need lasers coming out of them.  A lawsuit would foster a venue where it was appropriate to talk about how Steam and Amazon can do it but IMG can't.

LOL. Why the hell not? They do realize that there is an entire category called *shopping*  right? Newegg is another app that lets you buy software...Was that seriously the end of the conversation? The only way to interpret that rule without self-destructing like a robot in Star Trek is to assume that it means content and functionality for the app.

(I wanted to upload this image but I get "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community."?)

More importantly, that rule is irrelevant for what the app does.  The IAP-purchase rules are *only* for iOS content. Did you make this point?

The conversation ended shortly after when it was clear an idiot was representing apple. They ended it with "make a formal appeal".

And yes, we made it clear that there is no iOS apps being bought, and no in-app content being purchased, nor any in-app services. There was nothing in-app about anything regarding the purchases. Its a tool for the web store to buy games for your real computer.

Still didn't seem to make any sense to the apple rep.

Meet with them with one of you in dark makeup and a towel wrapped around your head.  Introduce him as The Pasha of Franistan, a wealthy middle eastern sovereign.  The rest of you kowtow to him, show some good old fashioned fealty, obeisance and fear.  Accidentally drop a valise rigged to pop open and spew C notes on the floor.  The rest should be all butter to get through.

Well if you phrased it like that, you clearly offended them by slighting iOS devices. ;)

You should rename it DonutStore, and add "Donut" as a string to all apps displayed, and see how they respond then.

Is there a way to escalate the issue to upper management as the representative did not seem able to comprehend what you were telling them or they were choosing for reasons undisclosed to dodge your legitimate question.

It really seems like a very silly issue considering that virtually any online retailer is readily available to purchase things from directly within the Safari browser on every iOS device. Why even make an issue of apps that simply make it a nicer experience for customers? I can understand their issue with controlling iOS apps and games but not everything else under the sun. That's ridiculous.
