Given the proliferation of the F2P/iAP I'm not sure how well this works on iOS. Maybe Apple would use it to drive premium sales. I'd argue that the iOS version of Civ VI is the best version. U can play it on the pooper! Yet I see so many that are unwilling to pay the "full price" for it.

Well, I've been waiting for Apple to do something, anything, favouring gaming.
Subscriptions is about the worst they could have come up with.

I don't need no stinking software subscriptions, thank you.

idk, game pass is doing well. People are unwilling to spend ANY amount standalone on quality iOS apps. They gotta try something.

I think they want to roll it in under an umbrella, giving you a host of services, somewhat like Amazon Prime. You get iCloud Drive, Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Games, etc.

Proof, if it were needed, that Tim Cook reads the IMG forums.

You jest, but I wondered if this rumored service might apply specifically to Apple TV games, not iOS or Mac games.

But I think not. I think this hypothetical game service will a perk of Apple's forthcoming TV service, not a standalone subscription. And Apple is targetting the TV service to more than just Apple TV owners.

They already did! They just fraked up completely and thought their Apple TV remote was even closely acceptable as a gaming peripherial... And then they gave up.
