Just in: A new Borderlands game, titled "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!" (including the exclamation mark) has been announced for the end of this year.

This will be not actually Borderlands 3, but it's rather a standalone expansion to Borderlands 2, meaning it will use the same tech base. The game will be set between Borderlands 1 and 2 (as you might have guessed from the title), take place on Pandora's moon and the Hyperion space-station and feature four completely new characters classes, represented by four characters that have turned up as NPCs in BL1 and 2 – including the Claptrap from BL1.

Yes, you will be able to play as Claptrap.

There will also be jetpacks.

The only thing not sounding very promising about this is that it will be mainly developed by 2K Australia, whose latest game was The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.

There hasn't been word about a Mac version yet, but considering it will use the already ported codebase of Borderlands 2, I guess we can take it almost for granted.

Oh, and there's gameplay footage:

"We do what we must, because we can."
"Gaming on a Mac is like women on the internet." — "Highly common and totally awesome?"

I'm unsure how i feel about this.  I'd rather have had more content for BL2.... honestly, there are a lot of things they could have done that would have made me give them money.

Offer the original 4 classes as DLC - id have paid.

Offer the original areas of Pandora for exploration - i'd have paid.

they could do the same here - after you beat the game, alllow you to use your BL2 characters/classes, or the BL1 classes.  I really dont like the look of any of the classes so far.  No turrets?  No interest.

All of the original pandora areas from BL1 "but altered to match the times" (like they did with firestone) ... yeah that woulda been a neat DLC. Cause it be like you could go through all those areas and they "feel so familiar" but yet are presenting new jerks who took up residence. And heck, even have a Necro-Crawmerax to beat up on ;)

Well the last DLC will feature the return of Crawmerax, or, at least, his son.

Walking through the BL2 Firestone was eerie and angering.
