Age of Wonders: Planetfall Mac Release!

28 May 2020 - 05:28 PM

Age of Wonders: Planetfall is apparently finally out for Mac!

A bit about the game from the Steam page:

Quote

Emerge from the cosmic dark age of a fallen galactic empire to build a new future for your people. Age of Wonders: Planetfall is the new strategy game from Triumph Studios, creators of the critically acclaimed Age of Wonders series, bringing all the exciting tactical turn-based combat and in-depth empire building of its predecessors to space in an all-new, sci-fi setting.

Build your empire with one of six unique factions, ranging from the militant Vanguard to the dinosaur-riding Amazons and the cyborg-zombies of the Assembly. Progress through each faction’s missions using your wits, military strength and diplomacy, exploring planetary ruins and encountering other survivors as you unravel the history of a shattered civilization. Fight, build, negotiate and technologically advance your way to utopia in a deep single player campaign, on random skirmish maps, and against friends in multiplayer.

I kind of lost hope that they would ever release a Mac version. Paradox had put up a Mac Apple symbol on their site before the release of the game, way back in August 2019 but then that was "corrected" and ever since Paradox (publisher) and Triumph Studios (developer) have been dead silent when it came to if there would be a Mac version.

With the release of the Age of Wonders: Planetfall Invasions expansion they quietly announced the release of the Mac version.

I was pleasantly surprised when I came across the Mac symbol today when looking through my wishlist so I bought it and am downloading it now.

So if you are interested it's on Steam for 50% off:

or

I'm sure it will be on the MacGameStore at some point, but right now it's 60% off on the WinGameStore (steam key):

Cyber Knights: A Cyberpunk RPG Kickstarter

03 February 2020 - 03:23 PM

The Trese Brothers, makers of Star Trader: Frontiers (a really good game by the way ;) ), have just launched a new kickstarter, Cyber Knights: Flashpoint, "a turn-based squad tactics RPG for PC (Windows, Mac, Linux) and mobile (Android, iOS)."

From the Kickstarter page:

Quote

Explore the dystopian cyberpunk future of 2231 as you command a company of shadow mercenaries working for the highest bidder. Cyber Knights wraps a world full of consequential story choices and significant character development around a rich core of classic and new mechanics. The game combines tactical elements like stealth, hacking and tense combat with strategic features like base building, contact management and in-depth squad customization. Cyber Knights invites you to jack in and explore a unique cyberpunk world and the immersive, human stories of your merc team in the dark future of 2231.

Basically it looks like an XCOM squad based game, same turn based, 3rd person perspective, mixed with cyberpunk/shadowrun flavor and RPG elements.

This will be the first game by The Trese Brothers that is using 3d models instead of 2d sprites, hopefully they do a good job with it. But the concept is cool the screenshots and video look good, I just backed it. If you are interested or want more details, here is the link to the kickstarter: https://www.kickstar...hts/description

They are having a special thing where if you back in the next 48 hours you get a little something extra, an expanded early game storyline "Horizon Cypher"
