I have bought Mass Effect 1 and 2 for like the sixth time. Already got it on PS3 retail + download and on DVD. But Steam is more convenient and those are just amazing games. :)

I've so far bought The Witcher 3 times, and it still doesn't work.

The only game so far I picked up from the Steam sale is Hitman Absolution, when it was dead cheap on the weekend. And it probably will remain the only one. There are a couple of other games I'm keeping an eye on, but I have the same problem as others here: a giant backlog of unfinished and/or unplayed games.

Heh, I also eyed Hitman, but the power of the backlog held me back successfully!

Deus Ex: HR Director's Cut.  I waited long and hard for this and I got it for 5 bucks.  Nicely played me.

Is it just me or has Valve given up on pretending the outcome of the Summer Adventure meta game has anything to do with reality? The results of the last couple of days lack any resemblance to something you could realistically expect, in addition to the fact that every team has conveniently won a day so far.

Its all a marketing ploy to get eager beavers to buy stuff up front so they can 'craft' a badge to be on a team for possible winning stuff.

They attempted to fix it by awarding prizes for second and third place. It didn't seem to work, however.  Once one team gains momentum it's over.

Me too. I almost regretted it when it initially wouldn’t run at all—Feral’s usual dialog with the video settings, documentation links and so on was displayed, but after that the screen just went black for a second before the game silently exited. No error dialog, nothing in the console, nothing whatsoever to suggest what was wrong.

Turns out I had foolishly assumed that because Steam gave me the option to install on a volume of my choice, that would actually work. Nope, this game is a member of the Boot Disk Only club. There’s also no convenient way to move an installed Steam game to a different volume. Sigh.

Maybe not convenient, but it's also not very difficult. You only have to move the game folder from one SteamApps/common folder to the other one and then move the corresponding appmanifest_xxxxxx.acf file, where the x's correspond to the game's Steam database number. In the case of DXHRDC, that would be 238010. You can find these numbers for instance in the URL of the corresponding Steam store page.

But, apart from that: DXHRDC works fine for me from an external drive…

Blah, just checked my accounting and I've spent a total of £88.74 on Steam this year even with a massive backlog... I have no self control.

Wouldn't just moving it over and symlinking it work?

You mean for individual games? Sure, but what would be the advantage? The way I described works perfectly with Steam's own integration of multiple library folders. I think symlinking could cause problems when you for instance don't have the external drive plugged in.

Ahh valid point, hadn't thought of that.
