Some knowledgeable poster at MacRumors says this is unlikely, or at least there are workarounds. This may be a problem for automated translation though, as there is no fine control of the process.

I bet automatically translating Metal into directx12 via Vulkan would be just as problematic given the many features that are specific to Metal.

Then again let's not forget that it takes 3-5 years to develop a game so let's hope the situation looks better in the next few years after the Apple Silicon transition.

Our only hope now is Crossover 23.

Well, it's not my hope at all. I'd never use these kind of products. Then I'd rather just play the game on Windows.

Fortunately I have a large backlog so I'll be fine for several years.

Okay, this is in fact true for me as well.

No definitive not! All these "emulation-layers" are notoriously laggy, buggy, show micro-stutters and framedrops because of the different memory-managements.
It would be a SHAME if these really good integrated m1-gfx were judged by non native games and even on games with win-emulation.
If that is the future of mac-gaming I'll quit.

If the situation will continue than apple has to think about removing rosetta2. this will stop gaming on arm-mac.

True, it's like all of those people praising Proton on Linux and wishing it'd come to the Mac as well. So, what they want, is an emulation layer that's able to play Windows games without the need of porting them to a native version. Sure, already almost no one ports games to the Mac. They want to give them even more reasons not to port games to the Mac? Because, why would anyone still put any resources into developing a native version when they can also just develop the game for Windows and let Proton do the magic for other platforms? I don't want to support a lazy developer who only releases their games on Windows. I want to buy a native Mac version, so in their sales figures they'll be able to see my money went to the Mac version, not to the Windows version.

Asked Feral on Facebook why the latest Tomb Raider games are not available for Mac on Epic but are on Steam. They said "That's something you'll have to take up with Epic!". So it seems it's Epic's decision after all?

Ask Feral what their mac-porting-team does.
