There hasn't been a dedicated post about the now-ancient promise of Divine Divinity for a few months now.  Is there even a tidbit of news to keep me wanting more, or should we consider this project potentially dead in the water?

God, I hope not.  Any RPG that compares favorably to Ultima VII and Diablo II has got to be worth playing.  That, and the estimated 200 hours of play time!  I haven't played anything that came close to that since BG2.

I want this game.  Gimmee.

Ya know, there is a good number of other pre-existing threads about DD. Those could just as easily have been bumped up.

But anyways, I too hope that DD is still in progress, even though it should be released quite soon. I just sent off an email to epic about it. ill post again if i get a response.

I believe you just did.

I'm still holding out for this game. It can take whatever time it wants, as long as it finally gets here. Some games just takes long time to port (and some are just announced too early ;P )
You shouldn't ask yourself such worthless questions. Aim higher. Try this: why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is my purpose in this universe?

(Answers: 'Cause you are. 'Cause you do. 'Cause I got a shotgun, and you ain't got one.)

Woo, just got a response from EPIC. Heres what they had to say:

"The porting worjk for DD has only recently been retsarted. There were
serious issues with the PC version and our coders had many problems. Now a
new team is trying to get it ported with a fresh start. Fingers crsosed, and
we may have it ready by march..."

Wow, that's brutal!  I've been looking forward to DD for a long time.  And I guess I will be looking forward to it for a longer time still.

But it's coming!  I refuse to believe that it's not coming.

Now see, if they'd just told us this...

I heard Freeverse is porting it.  Anyone know when it's coming out?

Really?!?!  Hadn't heard that!  I hope it is true - talk about a nice 100 hour experience!  I'd love to grab the Mac version of that game.  *Beyond* Divinity, on the other hand ...

Ah, Divine Divinity.  How long have I waited for you?

Anyhow, according to a post in this thread, from October, the porting company is now EPIC.  I think it was Freeverse, originally, but I have a hard time remembering back that long ago.  According to Epic (as reported by SilentBobCDN), they had to start pretty much from scratch when they took over the porting job.

So, to summarize: it seems like it might be a while, still, before DD shows up on the Mac.

Edit: Although, upon re-reading that post, EPIC *does* use the word "March" in the context of a possible release date.  So maybe it's not infinitely far away.

I hope it does materialize ... I also quoted from the old thread (no need to bump that one ...) 200 hours?!?  I would say that as a 'RPG completist' (i.e. I'm not happy when there is an inch of unexplored space, an untalked to NPC, a quest undone) that I got over 100 hours out of it ... probably more like 120.

EPIC has always been porting it. Freeverse is just distributing it to the US.

I think I also started a thread a year in half ago. Lol: Looks like Epic wrote a check they can't cash.

I have this game for the PC.  But I'd much rather play it on my mac.  I had a lot of time invested in the PC version, but I had to reinstall.  And the game didn't like the save files I backed up.  I hope they can complete this port.
