Well, as was proven within days of launch when a guy ran the game for like six hours with no connection with a simple hack....
they didnt need to do much of anything to "make it happen" - it was already possible.
Any difficulties the company had were purely because they lied to the consumer from day 1.

That hack didn't involve region play. I actually believe them when they say it was a lot of work.

The game doesn't suck; it's just the size of the maps which is ridiculous. You can expect between 200'000 and 400'000 people depending on the map style. Usually you want to build for 1'000'000 or more people. If they could increase the maps size, let's say 3 or 4 times, then it'll be a great game.
